Reset everything

Post by kkaizer » May 9th, 2019, 3:24 pm

I was having so much lag as I wrote in my previous post and couldn't figure out why at the moment so I decided to do reset everything.
Now I know it's already too late but lol I'm wondering if this feature can cause any harm to my world.

Reset everything

MC's Reset Everything performs a MasterController Reset on every sim, lot, and object in the world. Many of us find that it is an essential part of maintenance for longer-running ongoing games and run one routinely every six sim weeks or so; some of my worlds seem to need one a little more often than that.

It's always advised to do a Save As before running something this intrusive so one has a safe place to revert to just in case. But these MC Resets should never really cause harm, what they do is rebuild these sims and objects from the ground up based on the information that the game has on them at the time. If a sim or object becomes damaged or changes dramatically as a result, then something about it was damaged or corrupt to begin with.

Reset everything

Reset Everything has sometimes made an active Opportunity impossible to complete. I'll end up with a message about needing to return home to complete the Opportunity, even though that Sim is in their homeworld.

Reset Everything resets unpromised Dreams, so if you're using Dreamer and working to fulfill an unpromised Dream, you may want to wait to Reset Everything.

I also have a strong mental note to not Reset Everything at Sims University once classes start. I'm not real clear why I have that mental note. Maybe Reset Everything resets University Academic Performance.

None of those are reasons to avoid using Reset Everything, but they do make me choose the timing carefully.

I came here to post this same thing, and found this topic with a search, first.

Is there any fix for Reset Everything messing up opportunities?
