Spiral Stairs

Post by vgrace573 » April 7th, 2019, 9:10 am

Fixing spiral stairs in my active home is easy, just Sell then Undo. Don't know if the fix is permanent. Don't know if I must then go through the town replacing stairs in every home I've built. Pain in the glute.

Is there a setting on one of your mods that keeps stairs routing properly without micro-management?

Thanks so much for keeping this site going - had to be a MAJOR pain moving (or perhaps a labor of love?) In any case, you guys are awesome. Thanks again.

Are you talking about them being unusable? I believe that issue came with the pet's expansion. Houses built prior to that patch now need more room around the stairs or they won't work because they made the stairs larger for the pets to climb. Unless you mean something else?

Sometimes they just stop working. Direct a sim or pet to go upstairs and they do the un-routable routine. Way I figured out what was wrong is when the 2 kids went outside to climb the fire-pole that I put on the balcony. Again, sell-undo makes them useable again but because most of the homes I build and place have spiral stairs I worry that inactive sims may be having the same problem. This never happens with regular staircases (knock on wood) but I really prefer the spirals. Any settings you know of?

Thanks so much

Nothing here fixes it, no, because I don't think anyone else has reported the issue. Doesn't sound easily reproducable to see if it can be fixed I'm afraid.

Try moving them one or two tile spaces away from the walls. And are you stacking them that sometimes causes a problem.

You can always just do a town-wide "reset object" scroll until you find the objects you want to reset and then reset all of the spiral staircases in town. It won't "hurt" the ones that are okay to be reset too.
