having problems stopping proms

Post by sheridanhoughton » April 2nd, 2019, 11:58 pm

In the beginning, I quite enjoyed my teens going to proms, but I am finding them a bit irritating now. I just had a teen sim on the verge of asking his flame to go steady when the limo turned up and she left for the prom.
I have set SP>general>options situations>proms (or thereabouts) to false, but they still seem to be happening. Is there anything else I can try?
thanks

That seems odd. Have you had more then one prom announced since switching that setting to False? If only one, possibly it was already scheduled before you made the change but just hadn't been announced yet.

If the options are still open to you (sorry, not in-game currently to test), can you remove all of the valid days of the week that a prom can fire, set the chance per day to 0, maybe set the cooldown period between proms to something really high like 500? These are all options that should be on the General > Situations > Grad/Prom/Curfew menu, but am not sure if they disappear when the Allow Proms one is set to False.

I changed the settings for proms to false a couple of months ago, so it wouldn't have already been scheduled. But I don't actually get the announcements any more, just the limo turning up and tooting.

I will try those alternative options and see how it goes.

thanks for your help.

Just a FYI in case you didn't know it, for any sim behavior that is contrary to what you want your sim to do....like cruise to a prom, use nraas debug and reset your sim under the debug object command. It will stop the current situation. It won't put the sim back in a lets go steady mode, but sure beats restarting the game from a save point if you don't want them at the prom or any other silly situation they can get into.

Good luck getting the proms stopped. I changed the frequency of mine, but, didn't try to stop them all together.
