Child won’t age to teen

Post by hirikosaunders » March 8th, 2019, 10:13 pm

His twin sister is fine but nothing works for him.

i got the sim pregnant in another world (China) someone mentioned this might be the cause.

i have tried deleting and recovering missing sims. I have tried resetting, but he only ends up looking different.

i am playing through to see if Overwatch does anything, but I don’t know what to do.

Sometimes this means there is something wrong with the sim's current outfit assignments. Try changing all of them and without using CC, they are going to change when they become a teen anyway. You could also try DebugEnabler's Fix Invisible Sims command, even if the sim is not really invisible the command looks for bad outfit assignments and tries to fix them (the worst thing that can happen is that it reports that there is nothing to fix).

If a simple MC Reset is changing your sim's appearance entirely, then it is also possible that this sim is corrupt and needs to be replaced with a new version of themselves through CAS, for example.

You could also force the sim to be a teen through CAS, but this is absolutely a last resort because if the sim is already damaged, this could potentially make things worse. I had a toddler to child ageup fail like this long ago and forced the age-up in CAS back when I didn't know what else to try. As a child, the poor kid was a bit deformed, but he grew out of it in time and was fine as a teen and older.

I tried Debug Enabler and tried copying then moving back in. I also tried copying the town. I changed his outfits and hair in CAS too.

i don’t know what to do from here.

Unless someone else comes along and has a better idea, your choices are to bring the sim into CAS, save them there (make a SavedSim out of them), and replace the sim in your game with a new one using the template. That will essentially be starting the game over for this sim as they will not retain any of their progression thus far.

Or bring the sim into CAS and make them a teen. But that's risky and possibly the same thing will happen when it's time for them to age up to YA.

I am seriously thinking that I will have to kill the Sim or do a total annihilation because I honestly don't know what else to do.

I did try the CAS thing, but it acted funny afterwards so I'm not sure that it would have fixed whatever the issue is.

Do you think it does indeed have something to do with a pregnancy started in another world and traveling?

No I don't, but that's only because I've never had any problems with sims who are conceived in other worlds and the pattern (seems to be random) of players reporting this issue never points to that.

I don't either. I've had this happen at least 4 times and none of the pregnancies were started in another world as far as I remember. Sometimes changing outfits seems to work, sometimes sheer repetition in reloading a previous save and attempting the age transition seems to work, sometimes the DE reset seems to work, and sometimes nothing works and I end up recreating the sim in CAS, adding to the household, and TA'ing the original.

I know this is all really annoying, but think of it this way. Sometimes in television shows, an actor has to leave in the middle of a series and is replaced by a new one because it was decided to not write the character out. We are supposed to pretend, somehow, that it's the same person. Can't we say your child is having a contract dispute so the producers fired them and hired a new one to take over?

Well so I saved and then did a save as. In the save as I did kill the sim, but since it is Isle of the Midnight Sun challenge world....ummmm well he's still sort of alive??? It's very strange. I still have the previous save so I can try a few things if I get the motivation to. A couple of times his reset didn't look so bad and if I can cheat and go into CAS I can fix the face to what I want so I might try that.

For the save without him something happened and the parents are upset, but won't talk about it so the twin feels like they want to just forget him and she isn't happy about that. It is what is going to send her to Egypt. She wants to keep his 'memory'. Or at least that is my story and I am sticking to it.

In unrelated news about this while setting up her teen look I found a CC hair that is now acting all funny. I don't even know. I still don't get how he was wearing stuff from the store and game and still something went crazy. As far as I could tell he had nothing from third party.

Doesn't have to actually be CC causing this. Sometimes the EA outfit system just dies or maybe you have another mod that is improperly altering outfits.
