Hi, I have a quick question: is there any tuning that can be done with NRaas mod / existing mods that would make the Consigment shop open from 8am to 10pm for instance?

Could be mistaken, but I believe you would need to create a tuning mod for the Venues.xml and then do something similar for the consignment cash registers because a lot officially open until 10 pm that has no staff behind the register is probably not what you had in mind.

The elixir consignment register is staffed 24 hrs and with Consigner you can consign anything in inventory which has a value (i.e. not 0 simoleons). I use that instead of the Ambitions one which has limited hours.

That's amazing! I have just recently installed my first Elixir consignment shop ever in Bridgeport, I definitely feel limited with the Ambitions consignment shop hours.

My main goal is to buy Nectar bottles from the Consignment shop & transfer them to the lot of one of my townies who has the Bottomless Nectar Cellar LTW. I managed to get 6 bottles in his nectar racks so far, but the big problem is that my active sims work traditional business hours and by the time they leave for work and return home, the Consignment shop is closed!

I'm hoping Igazor's tip will help me hack those not-employee-friendly business hours :x

Hmm...well, sorry to say but the elixir shop doesn't sell the same selection as the Ambitions one does. You probably won't find nectar bottles there. For what you want to do I'd put a WA nectar register on some lot instead. You might get nectar bottles that way and the hours at least in Champs Les Sims are also 24/7 (IIRC).

The Ambitions Consignment Shop oddly is set to be Open 24/7, but the Consignment Shop Register for it isn't you would have to change the hours for the Register in the NPC Roles XML.

It's a great strategy for my LTW! I did see a small market lot on TSR but was afraid it'd be "competing" with what the Ambitions consignment shop already does. I like the idea that it'll actually better respond to my need of gathering beaucoup nectar bottles. Hadn't seen it under that angle. Merci!

Yeah I always found those sims suspicious... What could possibly prompt ordinary citizens to break into a consignment shop with grand-pa, grand-ma and little Billy to "talk shop" until the wee hours of the morning :huh: You solved that mistery for me: EA's logic. Every. Time.

The reason the Consignment Shop is open to sims even when there is no Role Sim manning the Register is to keep the skill objects inside the shop accessible.

Ah ok! Got it. I guess when most of your sims are off the poverty cycle mostly thanks to Consigner, this kind of details is easy to overlook.

I actually *just* tried this yesterday and it didn't work, it fired up over 1000 error notifications in-game from ErrorTrap. At first I thought the issue was with my Venues XML modifications, so I took the file off, but the errors kept showing. So eventually I decided to look what could be done.

It turns out that over at SimsAsylum, the amazing bluegenjutsu has created the mod "Merchant Hours Adjustment/Tourists Stick Around Longer" that's compatible with patch 1.67. The forum requires a registration, but all mods are free:

What I did is that I downloaded her mod flavor "bluegenjutsu_Merchant_Work_Hours_Adjusted_Longer_Tourist_Visits.zip" and inside the NPCRoles file, under 'RoleLocationMerchant', I changed the following lines:

<StartTime>8</StartTime>
<EndTime>20</EndTime>

To:

<StartTime>0</StartTime>
<EndTime>0</EndTime>

Now there is a 24-hour Consignment Store in *all* my towns, yay. (Townies still hang out way too long there, but that's a minor issue.)

Very grateful for your insights @sittingbear! Without your feedback, I'd never have known which precise files + which precise lines inside of these files, to look for and modify. Super happy with the outcome. ;)
