Option to increase chance of multiple babies

Post by Trishg21 » February 24th, 2019, 3:45 pm

I just reinstalled MC after many years of hiatus. I cant for the life of me find the option to increase the chance of twins or triplets. Can anyone point me in the correct direction?

Option to increase chance of multiple babies

Hi there.

For a particular pregnancy? NRaas > MC > (Sim) > Basic > Baby > Set Multiple will prompt to enter the chance of twins and then triplets. The MC Cheats add-on module is required along with the base mod in order to have this option. And of course the sim must already be pregnant to see it.

Ah thank you! I only had the base mod installed. Installing the cheats mod worked perfectly, thank you for your help.

Can this work even when there are already 7 sims in the house if I allow the game to stuff more than 8?

I was thinking that it was SP that allowed over stuffing, but want to confirm exactly what the correct path would be for that.

And I really only want it just the one time in my active family. Is that possible?

There are six mods involved with the creating and playing of overstuffed (Greater than Eight) households. They each play a different role from each other. Actually one of them, PortraitPanel, doesn't really count as its purpose is to increase the number of household portrait icons that can appear on the left side of the screen at one time but by itself it doesn't affect the household limits.
Which-Mod-FAQ#I-want-to-play-a-househol ... sims-in-it

This is tricky because we are talking about allowing this multiple birth for the one active household only that is currently on the edge of being full at 7 residents. I believe that both the MC option setting to allow Greater Than Eight (which only applies to MC player-directed commands and not anything else) and Woohooer might be needed to allow a multiple birth to take place. Some players find that they have to take the household apart before the multiple birth by moving some sims out temporarily just before the babies are due and then use MC's Add Sim to reassemble the overstuffed household afterwards to make this kind of thing work reliably for just the one household and without affecting all of the others in town.

Where SP comes in is with inactive households. SP can only push pregnancies and resulting births on inactives up to their Household Options designated limit (can also be set at Caste and Town levels). But SP is also required to maintain these households. If you switch actively played households further down the road, even for just a moment, the overstuffed one will be undefined and fall apart unless SP is set to allow a greater than eight household limit for that household. If you never, even with the game clock paused, ever switch active households, then SP has no say in this regard.

And where Mover comes in is when players use the phone and Edit Town split and merge interactions that require a household with Greater Than Eight to be split or formed. But that's why MC's Add Sim is often a better way to go about things as it does not use the more limited built-in Move interactions.

Thanks for the info Igazor! It might be a bit more involved than I want to try, especially since it's just for the one household this one time.

So... if I moved the couple out that is expecting into their own home where they would be inactive, could I still use the increased chance of multiples from your answer above?

The pregnant sim in question already has the fertility reward but I'd really like to see them have twins or triplets.
The father is a ghost and I'm hoping for some natural ghost offspring, at least one anyway.

And I have a genie lamp in inventory that I could have the father wish on for a large family, but I wasn't sure if that would even help once he became inactive.

Yes, or you could move a few of the other sims out temporarily to play through the birth actively then move them all back in using MC. If all of the other sims in the household are too young to be on their own, it would not be totally unrealistic for them to stay with friends or relatives overnight, even though to the game they would actually join the other household for a short while, before the parent goes into labor.

Thanks for confirming that.

Unfortunately, all of the other family members have wishes I don't want them to lose, and I really need to have them all be in my active family, so moving them out isn't an option.

Since the expectant couple will be staying in this town, they need a home of their own anyway.

Err, okay but that's it? I mean, congrats on the triplets but don't we get cigars or something?

I actually have no use for cigars myself...but I think a half pound of gourmet coffee beans might be an acceptable substitute. :)
