One Question about SP and One about Roads

Post by Bowlady1955 » February 13th, 2019, 12:01 pm

Still having trouble having my SP set correctly for females to impregnate males.....under SP in pregnancy caste under males, I have males and females both listed, yet my female is the only one that gets pregnant no matter who the initiator is. The male can and does get pregnant if its with another male, but no matter what I have changed or tried so far, my females can't impregnate males. I have no problem with female to female and male to male, just can't seem to get the settings correct for female to male pregnancy. Any help?

My second question is can you add roads to a town that would be usable? I would like to add some more accessible roads to add some CC with what is already there. Is there a program, mod or expansion pack that would allow me to do this? or maybe a link that I can read or watch on YouTube and learn how to do it, like I did for above ground pools, basements, etc.

Thanks again for all of your hard work with the mods, this site and everything else you amazing people do around here.

Cheers,

In an ongoing game with Edit Town no it's not possible. And it's only possible to do that in CAW as routing would have to be recalculated and then only if you plan to start a new game as any changes to the world file in CAW require a new game.

Roads and world lot routing need to be accounted for in a world's design phase. As sittingbear has said, they cannot be added in once a game is underway. The "world lot" is all of world that is not already part of a residential or community lot.

Create A World (CAW) is a tool provided by EA aside from the game. It was only ever released as a beta version and stayed that way all this time. There are two versions currently available, one for Patch 1.67 and one for 1.69. It is a very sophisticated program and very complicated to use, the learning curve is huge. But this is what is used to create and edit custom worlds and the world designers who have mastered its usage and share their custom world creations with other players have our undying respect. Except for those who share worlds that just don't work, then maybe only a little bit of respect and perhaps some encouragement to try harder and test better or something. I've never used it myself, I was playing the Mac version of the game back when I might have been interested in at least trying and there is no CAW for Mac. :)

Note the official tutorial and walkthrough, those are probably as good a place to start as any to at least learn more about the program. There are many player-made CAW guides and forum boards where world designers still congregate to share ideas and their creations including on the official EA forums and at MTS.

On the pregnancy question, can you click on a male sim whom you expect should be eligible to be pregnant to get to their individual SP Sim Options; what do you see for the following

Pregnancy: Allow Can Be Pregnant (this is T/F)
Pregnancy: Allow Can Be Pregnant Caste (should show either nothing for there to be no restrictions or both the Male and Female castes)
Pregnancy: Allow Participation (this is T/F)
Pregnancy: Allow Participation Caste (this should show nothing for there to be no restrictions or both the Male and Female castes)

Neither of the two options where castes are involved should show a negative number nor as "---".

thank you so much igazor, ok the CAW sounds way to much for my feeble mind to comprehend, so I will leave well enough alone, being computer literate is definitely not my calling. That is why I'm so glad my daughter married a man who has a masters in computer science and coding/programming. And hopefully soon I will be moving closer to them if I can ever get my house sold. So I can just have him "do the hard stuff"....LOL

So far as the male pregnancy goes I will double check but for some reason I can't alt/tab out of my Sims 3 and come to the boards here without my computer totally shutting down. So I actually have to completely log out of sims and Origin to come here.

So thank you again very very much.

Cheers,

The son-in-law does sound handy to have around, but just wanted to point out that it doesn't take academic credentials to be skilled in world design nor would having them really be sufficient or even helpful. Design is really a different kind of skill. But I was really just providing the links and suggestions as reading material so we can appreciate what goes into the process, not so much as a suggestion to dive in and start designing worlds.

On the alt-tab thing, if your game is in full-screen mode most of the time it's always been safer to temporarily switch to windowed mode (Game Options or alt+enter I think it is or it might be shift+enter), minimize the game to the task bar, then launch or use your web browser, and then do the reverse to get back into the game in full-screen. Not very convenient until one gets used to it, but this is more of a Windows thing. Some programs really don't like being alt+tabbed out of and back into. Or other players use a different device such as a phone, tablet, or laptop if available, to use the web while playing.
