can we change, edit the "environment" value on an item?

Post by Ghiby » February 8th, 2019, 10:01 pm

this is what I was talking about also using maybe a living chair, as a chair for the chess table, or that dining chair, looking great, almost like a living chair, to be used for desks, or chess table and ad some kind of environment value, as shown in this link

http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims3/Livi ... Chairs.htm

yes, me too now I'm compensating the lack of environment value of some items, with some other items I can place in the area, like artwork and sculptures and rugs and such, but to me I can never have enough environment value, not until my sims get at least the "nicely decorated" buff, to keep them happy as happy sims = lifetime happiness = rewards and such... like I'd like to be if I'd be one of those sims... hehe...

yes, I know I can change it via MC- Intermediate and I do that a lot, but I'm talking about my sims that are on their own, the households I am not controlling, in the back of my mind, I want them to be happy too... hehe... so to me, I can never have enough environment value to please my sims...

like I can't even begin to understand how the developers, from Maxis I guess, how come they make a nice, chair, like the one I was talking about, top of the line dining chair I think (if I'm not wrong) over $900 in price, so not cheap for my sims, very comfy, like +++ and very nice looking, almost looking like a living chair even if it's just a dining chair, yet no environment value on it - I mean it's pleasing to my eye, as the player, the puppet-master handing my sims, but it's not pleasing for my sims, to boost their "nicely decorated" buff??
is not making any sense to me, how come they overlooked that...

and in contrast, some other ugly looking item, and cheap, is giving them 2-3 in environment
Well like I stated you can reach the real tuning values for environment and comfort with Retuner you'll need to look for example Nraas>Settings>Retuner>General>By Tunable XML>Sims3.Gamplay.Objects.Counters.Mimics basically anything that has Mimics.
The environment and comfort rating on OBJD's are superficial and do nothing.

And just to be fair to Maxis they actually had nothing to do with the Sims 3 that was EA's Sims Studio. When Maxis was bought by EA they gave EA the Sims IP in exchange to be an independent Subsidiary so all Sims games from 2006-2013 are all EA's Sims Studio.
With the exception of University, Island Paradise and Into The Future in which Maxis served as a support role you won't find the Maxis logo on any of the EP, SP and Base Game disc cases. Now as of 2014 EA gave the Sims Series back to Maxis and gave them the Sims 4 since it was originally EA Sims Studio who did the initial development and Maxis absorbed what was left of the Sims Studio into their company and have been trying to fix the mess that EA left with that game ever since.

interesting story about Maxis and I believe you're right, I usually play under Island Paradise, one of my favorite packs and worlds, even if in itself, as many, many pointed out it has quite a lot of flaws, to me, I still play most of the time the IP world and bring in households or sims I've made and developed in other worlds, I guess that's why I had Maxis in mind, but nonetheless, regardless if it's Maxis or any other developer, to overlook such basic concepts and leave it so unbalanced when it comes to environment value, to me is a matter of professional ethics, I mean if we do one thing, at least let's try to do it right

such significant imbalance - in my opinion, that is - to have nice looking items, expensive chair, comfy and with no environmental value whatsoever, while in contrast to have ugly looking items, with 2-3 value in environmental is way, way out of place, unrealistic to say the least... yes, it's a game sim, we all know that, but a minimum of realism is expected...

like having a sloppy jalopy ugly looking car, behaving and making my sims feel like they drive a Ferrari and in contrast having a Ferrari making my sims feel like they drive a sloppy jalopy car... I feel the same with nice furniture items, vs. ugly looking items, that's why I feel the need to make my own adjustments, even if maybe not many care about it, I do care, as I like my sims to be happy - aka get the "nicely decorated" buff, at least that from sitting on a nice looking, comfy and expensive chair, instead of sitting on an ugly looking and cheap chair, or couch or using whatever other ugly item they encounter

thank you for pointing out how to use the Returner on this, I was looking into that and I was a bit confused, so thank you for pointing it out as an example, I need to work on that and since I never did it, it helps to receive some "how to" tips, so thank you for that
