How to remove the chisel from the sculptor's hand?

Post by Ghiby » February 6th, 2019, 4:01 pm

Hi all,

I have another question to ask, how can we remove that chisel looking tool thing from the sculptor's hand, once the sculptor sim finished working on a sculpture..??..

here are more details:
I have one or two sims I'm playing as sculptors, one of them is my main, favorite sim, from my world, that I usually play, and it appears that when they are on their own - when I am playing other sims-households, using Master Controler -> Make Active, so when they are not controlled manually by me, but existing, going by their lives as residents of the same town, while I play other households, they tend to do their jobs, as sculptors, and go on sculpting, and that's good, nothing wrong with that, I agree...

it's just that once they are done sculpting, that tool looking like a chisel in their hand, is still there, on their left hand, and is not going away no matter what I do... while they are not sculpting, while I am controlling them again, doing stuff, cooking, eating, dancing, swimming, whatever they do, that chisel is still on their hand...

I've tried almost everything I can think of, from "Reset sim" to "Reset Lot" using the mods, to changing the outfits, either via the dresser, or forcing it with a mod, and nothing, that chisel is still in their hand, no matter the outfit, no matter the reset sim and/or lot...

I even tried to make them do some kind of other activities, to use that hand, holding the chisel, from brush teeth (that;s done with the right hand, but I've tried it anyway), to play guitar, piano, bass, drums, throw a ball with friends, ride a horse, and anything else I can think of, still that chisel is glued to their left hand... even after saving the game, exiting TS3, deleting the cache files, launching TS3 again, loading the game, still that chisel is in their hand...

I even tried to edit sim in CAS - Create A Sim - mode, still when I'm back from CAS, the chisel is still in their hand

(I could post a link to screenshots, but I guess it's pretty clear the issue I'm describing here, however, if anyone needs a screenshot, please let me know and I'll post it)

now, I have to mention that I often switch households, it's one of the perks of using our great mods - so I go back and forth to other families-households and I eventually return to my main sim-household, the one with the sculptor, but I saw the same behavior to another household also that has a sculptor living there...

somehow, after a while, during the gameplay, for no reason I can observe or understand, the chisel disappears from their hand, and it all looks normal until they decide again to sculpt, then the chisel is back glued to their hand...

now, I know it's just a cosmetic thing, just the way they look, maybe just a visual glitch of some sort, not quite critical, not quite extremely important, so I didn't think to make a big deal out of this, but lately is kind of bugging me, my sim walking around with that chisel in his hand, without me being able to do a thing to remove it

so, does anyone know why is this happening, or more importantly how to remove that chisel from my sim's hand??

thank you all

Checking out and checking back in didn't help? In the past I had this problem, but I thought that after some patch the developers fixed it.

Are you able to click on the chisel? If so, resetting it via MasterController might work. That's been successful for me when my Sims have gotten plates or bowls stuck in or on their hands.

Another possibility would be to see if the chisel is listed in MC under Household > Object Stats. If so, clicking on it should give you the option to delete it.

MC Resetting an object like a chisel cannot be done by clicking on it. It would have to be listed under Household > Object Reset > Inventory (or maybe Non-Inventory or one of the others now that I think about it since technically it's attached to a sim but isn't really an inventory item).

DebugEnabler Resets can be done by click though, if those are possible in this case.

interesting ideas, I'll try those

but, no I am not able to click on it, that was one of the first things to try, with Ctrl+Shift+click to delete it somehow, but it's not allowing me to click on that thing

I've tried DebugEnabler, in fact, I love that mod, it's quite powerful, as such one of my favorites, but when I click on the sim, will open the cellphone-sim options, and I don't see anywhere listed that chisel so I can do something, click on something having to do with the chisel

that's the frustrating part for me too, the fact I can't click on it, otherwise, I assume by now I would've found a way to get rid of that thing

but, I didn't try the MC under Household > Object Stats as Insomniac suggested, so I'll try it ASAP and see if I find it there

@ Sara,
nope, it didn't happen if I check out then back in - not even if I change - Make Active - another household, then come back to the sculptor, it's still there... until, somehow, for no apparent reason that I can explain it disappears on its own, without me doing something about it...
that until it appears again, in the case my sim would choose to do some sculpting again, and they do while I don't control them being busy with other households

maybe it's worth mentioning this behavior happens ONLY when I start handling another household, using the MC-Make Active and is NOT happening when I am manually handling my sim and do some sculpting when I do it manually the chisel appears and disappears as it's supposed to...

however, if I return to my sim from another household, and the chisel is already in his hand, even if I manually ask my sim to do some sculpting, then stop - hoping he'll put it away - well is still there, as it was before me asking him to sculpt

odd things happen sometimes in this TS3 of ours...

I was afraid you'd misunderstand me, because that's not how I put it. You need to move out of the house. That is, leave it in the mode of changing the town. And then move back in. A simple change of family really doesn't help in this case. This is a one-time solution, so it is better in the future not to allow sim to create without your supervision.

aha, so you mean in Edit town, to evict the household, then move it back in..??. if so, this is indeed something I didn't try yet, as it never crossed my mind to do that, but I'll try it ASAP, and see how it goes... interesting idea to do this kind of trick, of a move... I can't wait to try it...
