WooHoo epidemic

Post by JohnL83 » February 3rd, 2019, 11:53 am

This is completely separate from my question in Chatterbox. Since it's directly about the WooHoo mod, I'm not sure my other issue has anything to do with the woohoo mod.

Anyway. I'm new to using this mod. I've managed to get my settings to what I think I want them to be, which includes allowing autonomous woohoo. My only issue with this is that now every time I have a party, of any kind, my couples end up taking off to mess around all over my party givers house. I thought it was funny at first, and happy to see it was working that only couples who are married or in close relationships were hooking up, but it's happening far too often and even at kids birthday parties and holiday gatherings.

Is there something that I can do to keep sims from having sex with each other at my sims house? Maybe there is a setting I can use that I can turn off or on that they wont hook up at the sims house who is throwing the party? Sure it would be fine for any mature parties like the Bachelor/ette parties, but I'd rather not have this occurring during kids parties, birthdays or holiday get together's.

The easiest thing I can think of is to turn of autonomous woohoo temporarily for the duration of the party. Woohooer doesn't have a setting to do that automatically keyed to certain events.

Alternatively you could try reducing the general chances 2 sims will decide to autonomously woohoo. See this question and the next one from the Woohooer FAQ for the settings to pay attention to. Note: the question I linked to is about how to increase the occurrence of autonomous woohoo, so reverse the setting suggestions in that question since you are interested in the opposite. I often have to tone down some of those settings or else my married couples spend way to much time woohooing and never interact with the kids. :P

The Woohooer Scoring module should help tame things. But it can also sometimes be a pain when you want two sims to woohoo and they refuse for whatever reason.

I'm thinking that I will have to just turn off auto-woohoo each time. Most of the games I play now have sims who are very wealthy and thus have tons of other fun things to do, even for party goers, from pool tables, to music, computers, hot-tub etc. The few sims who are still working toward higher wealth at least have a TV and a PC, which sims seem to love more than almost anything, except maybe woohoo. LOL. But my thanks to you and Sittingbear for the input.

In case you are still taking suggestions, I've had parties go like that as well as overnight guest scenarios where the already partnered couples want to go off and be by themselves (which is fine generally) far too early. Some DebugEnabler resets will stop them in their tracks, but if they are stubborn about it the actions will just reappear in the inactives' queues.

There are some things we can do as party hosts to lessen the chances of this happening. First of all, lock the bedroom doors -- if the guests have fewer access to woohoo friendly objects like beds, then they will find other things to do. Of course it might not be convenient to fence off treehouses, igloos, leaf piles, etc. if those are around, and we might not want to lock them out of bathrooms that have showers or keep them out of the hot tubs, but reducing the number of locations where they actually can woohoo autonomously will help reduce the chances that they will try or be successful.

And, I should mention, that as hosts we are meant to engage in (other kinds of) activities with our guests directly. They can't really go off in private if we keep bringing them into 2- and 4-sim activities like video games, watching tv, dancing, playing pool, table tennis, shoving more food at them to eat or coffee to drink, whatever you have to work with. Of course if you have two hosts trying to manage 30 guests then this becomes more challenging. :)

Always welcome suggestions from people, even if I have seemingly found my answer.
That said, I feel really stupid not considering this option since I used to lock everyone out of bedrooms but the sims who sleep in that room. I kind of stopped doing that once I started switching from home to home in games because when I was active with another home and that home had a party the sims would be trapped in some rooms because, as you know, they often teleport into rooms for parts off the actives lot. Then I forgot all about locking doors again. Silly me.

I wish that we could designate rooms to sims so that sims would think of a room as theirs. For instance, like when doing homework or using the computer etc. In other words make it like in real life when one has a bedroom in a family, that's the room you spend time in doing your own things.
