ErrorTrap Script Error - Resetted Sim Disappears

Post by 95mmaa » January 18th, 2019, 10:57 am

Hello! I hope this is in the correct section!

I just registered recently so I just wanted to begin with a big thank you to the modders behind the crucial mods the site has to offer. :D

Okay, so my issue started when I had sims returning from vacation go missing/not returning properly. To fix that I read that I needed to use the Traveller and ErrorTrap mods because these are crucial to have for travelling. I simply had to revert to an older save to deal with that issue since the two mods didn't manage to solve that problem anyway.

Now, however, with Errortrap still installed, I seem to be getting Script Error logs for a Sim in another household I'm playing. Upon entering, Aileen is reset yet is nowhere to be found on the lot or town. I can't even select their icon. I've uploaded the script file onto my Google Drive (as from what I've seen in other threads I went over here): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fabtW ... IHKnoV2_Xn

Also, in case it helps, here's a list of mods I have installed:
  • MasterController
  • Overwatch
  • DebugEnabler
  • SecondImage
  • Porter
  • PregnancyControllerV5 (MTS)
  • AgingManager (MTS)
  • MuscleSliderNudeFix (MTS)
  • GoHereWith_Always (MTS)
  • PurityAttraction Fix (MTS)
  • Traveller
  • ErrorTrap
  • NoCD
  • No Build Sparkles
  • No Intro
Forgot where I got the last two from.

Would appreciate any help I can get! Thanks in advance! :)

ETA: I noticed that a reset keeps taking place every time I load a save game from the main menu. I'm thinking at this point I should just remove it? Because resetting Sims seem to cause them to disappear, and I have to load another household, bring them back with overwatch (through city hall > retrieve missing Sims) and go back in again. Any ideas?

ETA2: They also seem to lose their careers (professions) in some cases after retrieving them. Is there any mod conflict here by an chance?

ErrorTrap Script Error - Resetted Sim Disappears

I'm not familiar with GoHereWithAlways, this is a pretty new mod. But that's not likely the issue. The others look fine to me if they are all current, most recently released versions. The final two on your list are small test mods that come with the package file Framework from MTS and are harmless.

What I am seeing is that your active sim's smartphone is failing to materialize upon getting through the travel transition, sims require a phone as its part of their defined identity, and also there is an NPC party (meaning a party taking place at another resident's house) that is in some sort of borked up status upon return. The party may had begun before you ever left this world. They may the same issue, our developer would have to suggest which one to target first when he gets to this thread.

But one of your "ETAs" is bothering me more, if I am understanding it correctly. Are you at any point playing a game session, saving (or not), retreating to the Main Menu, and loading up another save or a new game? That is an almost certain way to corrupt the second or more game session to load because TS3 does not do a good job of clearing RAM contents in between loaded games and data from one world or ongoing save can get superimposed upon the next one. The presence of the Traveler mod makes this issue worse and appear more often. It's always a much better plan to quit the game entirely to the desktop (or Origin if relevant) after leaving one game session and start things up fresh before loading up another one.

Oh! I see... Well, some sims from other households do end up throwing parties that my current playable household gets invited to. So, I'm guessing that could be it, because I usually play through parties until after they end, if I threw them myself.

Ok, looking forward to see what they suggest!

Yeah, I think I kept doing that as I was trying to test out different solutions. Kept trying out different saves. I'll try doing that next time. Thank you!

As for the Traveler mod, how exactly does it make it worse? Anything else I should be aware of with regards to that?

The not clearing out of RAM in between save loads is a game programming glitch. Traveler makes it worse because it utilizes RAM data in more interesting and different ways than perhaps EA intended, but RAM usage is never meant to be persistent in any version of the universe. The bug strikes many of us even without Traveler in play, just not as often or as severely. I saw it myself (before I had Traveler) when playing the more crippled, restricted Mac version of the game years ago. That one only allows 2 GB of RAM to work with and I could see right away that not quitting between load ups, no matter how annoying or time consuming it is to keep restarting the game from the beginning, was just going to keep asking for trouble as the last thing the game needs is a head start on RAM usage before gameplay even begins.

There's also nothing quite like finding sims from one game save mysteriously appearing in another where they have no business being. Another symptom often reported is dead sims who are supposed to be underground in the cemetery or someplace all suddenly being alive again and living on various lots around town, with the game being completely unstable as this happens. Total data mismatch breakage, otherwise known as "crossed-wires."

There really isn't a solution for this except to never load up a save or a new game from the Main Menu after putting a current session away.

The cellphone error is always a symptom of another problem. In this case you have a corrupt party going in town that is breaking your Sim. I helped someone resolve this issue before but how is slipping my mind. I believe changing the active household until after the party is over was the solution.

No worries!

(ETA: Are you referring to a party hosted by another household not currently being played? In that case, I'm not sure what to do... Does MC or Overwatch have the option to "End all parties in town" or something...?)

The other issue I seem to have is when entering a lot and Sims are reset by Errortrap, I end up having to switch to another household to bring them back through City Hall > NRaas > Overwatch > Recover Missing Sims (it doesn't work in the same household of the missing Sims). The bigger pet peeve is that when I do manage to bring them back, they seem to lose their jobs, as if they never had one.

This all just happened to the first house I entered upon loading the game.

I've uploaded the last two script error logs I got after the resets, in case they might be useful: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1q1rCY ... LXBsU9nVt6

I honestly would rather just not have ErrorTrap as the resets are annoying, but I find it very crucial, because in one instance, one child got reset and I wasn't able to bring him back without putting Errortrap back in again; I managed to bring him back when I did. :)

ErrorTrap Script Error - Resetted Sim Disappears

Yes, that is what we both meant by NPC (or inactive) party. Let me show you the critical part of the current script error log. You are getting this on several sims with the surname Wozny, currently at location coordinates (0.0.0) which means they are nowhere.

System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required.
#0: 0x00014 callvirt in Sims3.Gameplay.Situations.NpcParty+Happening:OnSimLotChanged (Sims3.Gameplay.Actors.Sim,Sims3.Gameplay.Core.Lot,Sims3.Gameplay.Core.Lot) (493E8500 [5FE8CC00] [00000000] [373DF248] )

ErrorTrap is reacting to corrupt sim data. If you remove ErrorTrap (more than just temporarily), then you will no longer have that reaction but then one's game tends to fall apart and become unplayable due to the corruption instead. I would not suggest shooting the messenger in this case.

Have you tried switching active play to a different household until this problematic party ends as Chain suggested? If you can identify where the party is supposed to be by any clues the game is giving, can you MC Reset the lot or go through Edit Town and remove/replace it with a copy?

Can you revert gameplay to a save from before this vacation ever took place to investigate further where this party may be or, as a total last resort if all else fails, play through from there redoing things a different way?

Interesting, but odd! :-o

I understand; while it does try to fix things in an annoying way, it does manage to keep my game intact, so I'm grateful for that.:)

Well, going back to an old save is going to be a hassle even though I do have back-ups. The traveling part is no longer an issue since I loaded a previous save before they traveled and never sent them on a vacation, so that part is fixed. Plus, I sent another family using the Traveler mod and all is well.

As for locating the party, that will definitely need some investigation...

And, yes! You are all correct about switching to another household temporarily. I had to make sure that the reset happened while I was at the other house. That made the Woznys reset (received ErrorTrap notifications for that accordingly) and when I returned back, they were all there and their careers were intact. Hurray!:D

Once again, thank you all very much! I'll see how it goes from here...
