Extreme lag when placing fridges, stoves or counters

Post by JohnL83 » January 19th, 2019, 12:03 am

Does anyone else have this problem? It's unbelievably frustrating! Very often, when in build mode, when I get around to placing a fridge, counter or stove there is this terrible lag in the game where the object is very hard to place. This only seems to occur most kitchen objects, namely refrigerators, but can also happen with the stoves and counters too. What causes this and is there anything I can do to fix this? It does seem to be worse the more stuff I have on the lot, so I'm assuming this has something to do with it, but I don't get the lag on any other items and the refrigerators are the absolute WORSE! I can't even replace my sims current fridge with the new minus Zero Kelvin one they got for reaching level 10 in cooking profession! I've been trying for over 10 minutes now! I get it close to the spot then it moves again or there's some jerking and I can't seem to get the mouse in just the right spot! WhenI do there is a LONG delay before it will even let the damn thing go!

Fortunately, I have no such problem. How about removing the problematic things with MC? Most likely, you also should delete the objects that are stored in another object. For example, in this case, the refrigerator can be a lot of food. In addition, check the house for the presence of objects is still useful for prevention. What if you find something suspicious? And in the end, try to reset the lot, if you have not done it yet.

Extreme lag when placing fridges, stoves or counters

Sara_Darkees - thanks but I don't think you understand my issue. I can remove things fine. I can't PLACE items! My issue occurs in any kitchen, anywhere and only with kitchen appliances like fridge, stove or counters. I can go place a thousand chairs or dining tables with ease, but the fridge freezes up every time as do countertops and sometimes stoves. (but the worst lagging happens with the fridge) So it has nothing to do with resetting a lot. The zero Kelvin fridge is new and so there is nothing inside the thing and I STILL can't get it placed for some reason. I've always had slight lagging issues when placing a fridge in build mode, it often lags to one degree or another, but this time it is far worse! So IDK what the deal is.
However, next time I load the game I will try to empty the old fridge since there are many garden items inside, but IDK why that would matter for placing the new fridge.

Ok, maybe I'm misunderstanding you. It would be better if someone who has faced this problem in the past and solved it responds. By the way, it's strange, but objects inside the old fridge are always teleported to the new fridge. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that all the products from the old game were transferred to the current game.

Extreme lag when placing fridges, stoves or counters

Agreed, if an existing fridge is full of food then placing a new one will attempt to transfer (copy) the food to it. All fridges on the lot carry the same inventory, they are not independent of each other. Does this happen on a different residential lot as well that perhaps has no food in the inventory at all?

Yes, just not as badly. And what would that have to do with stoves or counters?

I've had this happen many times and it can happen with any large appliance, not just fridge's. I will try to get it to release the appliance anywhere in the room, get out of edit and then go back into edit and I can usually move it easily. I have no idea why this works or why the problem happens in the first place. I usually blame my poor pitiful puter. It happens occasionally with new builds as well as with old existing homes.

I'm glad to know it's not just me, but I tried this and it didn't make a difference. I've given my PC spec's before and several people said it is better than their specs so IDK what the deal is. I just tried by emptying the fridge and placing the Kelvin one and it just keeps jerking all over and I can't get it to release into place. So far I can't get the damn thing to release anywhere! But I can build other places in the house just fine. Sigh.....My new PC is on it's way so maybe that will make a difference? I had it built so it's not shipping until next week though.

Extreme lag when placing fridges, stoves or counters

Stoves and counters are often required for preparing meals. The game might be furiously trying to recalculate what can be prepared in this room and where as these things are moved around. I would imagine that having 100,000 ingredients in the fridge is going to make those recalculations more complicated.

No evidence for any of this, it's just a theory.

Can you try placing the new fridge someplace ridiculous like outside or in the garage, then return on a new Build/Buy session to move it around any better?

I will try this next time I play, for now I'm too irritated to play after trying for 15 minutes again this morning to place a stupid fridge in the kitchen!
If your suggestion doesn't work then *uck it! The fridge is in their family inventory so I will just wait until my new PC arrives and see if that helps. But god only knows if I will have the patience to transfer everything to the new PC, I've looked into this for my various types of games and I already have a headache. But Steam seems to be the least complicated. I've been told I can just copy the EA file, download the game from Steam to the new PC, then replace the new file with my old one and most things should work including my mods. I hope this is the case, but I will be moving from Windows 8.1 to Win 10 and I know from friends and family that 10 ruined many of their old games and some wont even work in 10. I hate that I even have to have Win 10. I asked the computer folks if they'd put in a different OS and you'd have thought i asked them to install Windows 95 or something! I wish I could just transfer my whole current PC and it's OS to the new one.
