Any way to disable Woohoo wishes?

Post by honestlyvitali » December 28th, 2018, 8:51 am

Hello! This might be a long shot, but I thought I'd ask just in case.

I use the Woohooer to set all locations as invalid, set Woohoo to married only, hide the action entirely... But every so often, my Sims still get the wish to Woohoo with their SOs! Which isn't the end of the world, as I can always just right click and delete it. But it takes me out of character when I have chaste or asexual sims :/

Is there any way for those wishes to stop popping up? Probably outside the scale of the mod, but just thought I'd ask to be extra sure.

Love the mod, by the way!

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas. I'm afraid that there really aren't any ways to interfere with the wishes sims draw by way of the game's dream manager, at least not within the scope of NRaas mods. The game really isn't set up very well to handle asexuality as it considers woohooing an integral part of romance/coupling. Although we can restrict sim behavior using the mods as you are seeing, the wishes for sims in romantic couplings in that context are still going to pop up on you and hopefully that is something you can continue to work around.

This kind of thing isn't restricted to romance. Sims will often, for most players, draw wishes that make no sense to us (argue with someone they love, go ice skating in the middle of the summer, buy something that makes no sense for them to have). I regard them as passing whims or fantasies and dismiss them as they come up, which isn't overly distracting as long as these things don't pop all day long, every day. :)

Ah, I figured as much. I wonder if there's anyway to remove that desire via a custom trait. Or maybe edit the code so it doesn't appear for adults or young adults (since that's all I really play) like it doesn't for children? Well, that's a lot of work for something that can be ignored with a simple mouse click (not to mention way beyond my experience level still! Maybe one day.)

But thank you again so much for making a mod that lets the game be a lot more tailored to nonsexual people too, especially considering this mod generally was made to give more woohoo options. It's really awesome you made the option to remove it, too. Thanks so much!

Would having the Unflirty trait help any? I've never used it so I don't know.

That's not a bad question.

I also thought of, but decided not to suggest, using MasterController (MC Cheats required) to change the sims' gender prefs so that their attraction to both genders would be highly negative if they aren't set that way already. So that would be -50000 or so for each gender. Problem is that would make these coupled sims less attractive to each other generally so there might be some unwanted relationship side-effects of going about it that way and I'm not sure either idea would really suppress the wish generation once the sims are already coupled.

I suppose though that if both sims were Unflirty then that would actually make them more attractive to each other because it would be a matching trait, so perhaps no danger of relationship damage trying it that way.

The only issue with unflirty is it doesn't really fit what these characters are (I made them based off of some video game characters). In fact, one of this pair is actually flirty and the other is a hopeless romantic, haha. I just have a lot of chaste/celibate/asexual sims, but not aromantic (i.e. desiring a romantic relationship but not a sexual one). Which is something that the game doesn't handle very will unfortunately.

I like them doing cute things like watching the stars, though! So I'd prefer to not make things like that less likely.
I'll just have to take up modding to make what I want, I guess!
