A bunch of mods make my game crash??

Post by Pinkgirl4you » December 26th, 2018, 2:11 pm

Hi all .I finally got to put mods on my Sims 3, after struggling for months because I have no internet at home.
so! I downloaded a whole bunch of mods, from Mod the Sims, and here, nraas. Out of the like, 30 mods, five of them won't work. Every other mod works fine.
The following doesn't work:
Nraas Consigner.
nraas cupcake.
Nraas mastercontroller.
Nraas storyprogession.
Nraas woohooer.
So what happens, is that I press to open my game. The maxis symbol shows up, obviously, then the loading screen starts. But two seconds after it starts the loading screen, it quits my game and asks if I want to find a solution online or just close the game. Weird! Why is those mods crashing my game ?? Is there a way I can get them to work? Because master and story are apparently super helpful!!! Sigh.
Any help will be appreciated. And PS, I'm using a windows computer. I think 8. And I have no internet on my computer.
Thanks!

May I ask please what patch level your game is on? That makes a big difference to many types of mods, but especially script mods like those from this site.

Also, can you confirm that the EA Store Bakery set is installed and loading (showing up)? The Cupcake mod will indeed crash the game on startup if the bakery set is not present as it is intended to modify that set.

Hey thank you for replying! I've emailed you before, I emailed you about struggling to install mods without internet access at home. How do I tell what patches my game is? Could you give instructions please? 🙂

Also I didn't check out the cupcake mod yet. So I don't know! The last mod I checked was the violence mod, which worked completely fine.

If you are on Patch 1.69, then Origin is controlling your game. You would not be able to start it up without going trough Origin first to get to the Launcher. It would also say "Version 1.69" front and center on the Launcher, it's difficult to miss.

If not, then at the bottom of the Launcher there will be a series of icons for the base game (on the left) and each of the EP/SPs. If you hold your mouse over the base game icon, the patch level number should appear in a small pop-up tooltip.

I opened the launcher, and hovered the mouse over the base icon. The number says 1.57.62.023002
does that explain anything?

Yes, I take it you are on a disc install then. Patch 1.57 is the one that came/shipped with the Movie Stuff Pack, so that must be the most recently released pack that you have. The mods currently on offer here are for Patches 1.67 and 1.69 (the game files for both are the same). One of the patches in between where you are and the current 1.67/69 levels was very large and changed many things about the game coding. Mods such as MasterController, StoryProgression and Woohooer made for 1.67/69 are not supported on 1.57 so just about anything can happen.

My suggestion is that you need to get this game Super Patched to 1.67 somehow. The problem is that EA's Super Patcher, although easy to run once you have it, is a huge download at over 1.5 GB. Would you be able to download it from another location where you do have Internet access and bring it to your computer on a USB thumb drive, perhaps?

Wow, thank you so much!
and yes! I can plug my cell into my parents work laptop. I used it before to download and search the web. You're so very helpful. Thank you. And yes , I got most of the SIM games, just missing a few, like university, Showtime, into the future, and like two or three stuff packs. I'll copy the link, and let you know. Thanks again.

PS! I was totally wrong about the rest of the mods .most of them don't work properly, it affects my gameplay, like it turns the green into dark green, it makes the needs reduce SO fast. It makes my one household that I always play with , stuck. I can scroll around, but can't select anyone. Nobody moves. So I removed most of the mods. I got five mods now ONLY. Unfortunately, the desensor mod makes my game lag every five seconds. So it stops for five seconds... Plays normal for five seconds... Then gets stuck again... Etc etc. I'll eventually figure out what works and what doesn't. Sigh.

Always glad to be helpful, but afraid we have to take a somewhat different direction now. I've edited one of your posts above.

NRaas mods are supported on legitimate game installs. Hacked and pirated games and content bring their own techncial issues to the table and are not supported. May I ask please, from where did you obtain your current game, its EP/SPs that you do have, and its store content, if any? Are you working with official discs manufactured by EA or is your game from some other source (which one)? And from where would your EA Store content, again if any, be obtained?
