My sims' child is enrolled in homeschool. She's the first one I've had homeschooled in the game. I have her enrolled because I decided to try a shorter toddler stage, with the extra days added to the child stage, but treating the child during that time as a pre-schooler, and not having her go to school. So I disabled homework. But she automatically gets homework every day anyway at 10 AM, and always does it autonomously. Is something not working right, or does disabling homework only mean that she won't be penalized for not doing it?

I believe that disabling homework for homeschooling means they won't be penalized for not turning it in. They shouldn't be picking up "new" assignments all on their own, but the one they were carrying from the prior day would go stale and become 0% completed at 10 am.

You could take the homework out of her inventory and "hide" it in a place that she cannot get to (not sure if it regenerates if you just force-delete it). Or you could deactivate autonomous homework for actives by way of Retuner. Strange, I don't recall having this problem with the homeschoolers.

It's not a really big deal. I was just expecting something different. There are a few other things she does autonomously that most preschoolers wouldn't be able to do, like climbing up into the tree house and playing chess. I decided it isn't worth it to try to prevent her from doing any of those kinds of things. I can just pretend she's coloring or something when she does homework. She still gets to stay home and play while her older brother is at school, which is the most important thing. She seems to love the sandbox the most, which is pretty typical of the age she is supposed to be, so that's good.

That all sounds pretty encouraging. Let us know if she decides to drive her motorcycle to the bar, have a few drinks, argue with the bartender about Gnubb, and shoot a few games of pool when she is supposed to be playing in the backyard.
