Overwatch Question

Post by Ritual » December 22nd, 2018, 6:54 am

Hi there!
Just getting back into the Sims 3 after a long time and was wondering if "Overwatch" was still mandatory or not. I remember back when I played sims would keep spawning cars in their inventory and Overwatch would fix that. Not sure if EA has fixed that since then, haven't seen anything about it in the patch notes. Anyone know?

Overwatch Question

Hi there and welcome (back). Am moving this thread to the Overwatch board because this one is for questions/issues about the site itself, not the mods.

A designation of "mandatory" is kind of up to the player and their needs. But the game spawns unnecessary vehicles, sometimes in small amounts (so sims can get around) and sometimes in the tens of thousands (glitches involving performance career limos, snack, and ice cream trucks). Overwatch cleans them up nightly. Traffic has options to stop this from happening in the first place.

Many of us do consider Overwatch, ErrorTrap, Traffic, Register, Traveler (if world travel is to be used), and to an extent GoHere to be essential for the way we play. We can add MasterController to that list for its Reset Everything command on City Hall > Town that would be helpful to run every few sims weeks for successful long-running games. Not sure for how long you have been away, but there hasn't been a game file changing patch from EA since Jan 2014, so that's coming up on five years now. Nothing has changed. :)

Hi Igazor. Yes I have been away for quite a while and just getting back into it all. Thanks for the recommended mods, I will download them as yes, my concern is that I want to run a long term game save that won't end up in a glitched mess! Much appreciated. :)

Ah, in that case I also recommend the tips described on this page if you have not already seen it. :)

I recommend adding Saver to the "mandatory" list.

Granted, it is annoying to have your gameplay interrupted at regular intervals when Saver kicks in, but losing several hours of gameplay from a crash or freeze is way more annoying, and in some cases, downright disheartening.

@Igazor Thanks for that link, hadn't seen it. Has quite the info on it! :) (Been running the mods you had mentioned and so far so good!)

@Tropical Very true, I will take a look at that mod as well. Thank you for the recommendation.
