The only mod stopping your Sims from traveling to the abyss. Did you end up there anyway? We'll try to help.

Question: To enroll or send sims to the university, can I still do it the traditional way with the "Enroll in University" selection on the computer/phone OR do I have to use the Travel method?

If we are talking about the standard EA Uni World and not a local Homeworld University (these are different), then Enroll by phone or computer is exactly how to do it. Traveler takes over the travel transition and (hopefully) improves it no matter how the transition is called upon throughout the game.

An exception is when you set Traveler to allow teens (children, toddlers, pets) and have the Careers base mod in play. The teen setting allows teens to register for university but in order to get them to Uni World, you may have to "vacation" them there first and then have them enroll at the Admin Bldg in person depending on who else is enrolling from your current world at the same time. But if teens are not involved and you aren't bringing children and pets with you which the mod also allows for by option, then this part isn't relevant.

Traveler and University

Post by jcobb94 » March 7th, 2020, 9:12 am

Okay, so I have a new question related to traveler and university. I want to move sims from the university world to my home world to be permanent residents so they can marry some of my YAs. The Uni sims have already relationships with some of the home world sims. I read the different ways of doing this in the FAQs, but I want them to retain their wealth and inventory. How do I travel to the university without sims and then make active the sim I want to move back to the home world? And THEN, how do I travel back to the home world with this sim and move them into their own home?

I hope I have made my question/concern clear :)

The way to transition to a foreign world is to begin the vacation travel sequence on a phone/computer from within the homeworld, but de-select all of the sims who would be in the travel party (double-click them on the right side of that screen to shift them over to the left side). Then travel with "no one on board." The household being played will be left behind, but note that although they won't be charged anything they do need to have the required funds on hand in order to complete the order to travel as if they were really going.

Upon arrival in the foreign world (Uni in this case), you should be asked which household you would like to play.

Uni is different from other worlds, though. You may find that many of the sims you had in mind to become active and move home are actually not playable because they do not have proper in-town households of their own especially in between terms. Dorms and the frat/sorority houses are not proper households. And they won't have funds of their own nor any kind of household inventory if they are being deemed as homeless NPCs at the time active play is transitioned. But if you can make a household you wish to move out of Uni World playable, then it just becomes a matter of moving them to your homeworld the same as any other as per the Traveler mod FAQ.

This is really the most difficult way to do this, though. It will take a LOT of travel transitions back and forth moving only one household at a time this way and again you aren't likely to be able catch all of them. It would be much more efficient to get these sims to join an active sim's household while they are already in Uni World and thus bring them back home with you, and much more efficient than that or any other method to stay in the homeworld and use MC > Add Sim > Homeworld (filter to Uni World) to get larger numbers of sims transported in to their own households or those of another. Funds (wealth) can always be adjusted with MasterController after their proper arrival as new residents. Personal and household inventories I would have to regard as write-offs, those are not going to transition with the sims that way.
