No Romance options available

Post by Melbarnesss » December 17th, 2018, 4:41 pm

Hey All! I'm sure this has been answered already, as I followed this thread here from a sims forum from 3 years ago, but, I randomly lost all romantic actions in my game. The only option available for my dating sims is to take a romantic picture together. I have reset both of them a few times, but that did not work. If anyone can help with this, I'd greatly appreciate it!

is this for all your sims, or just a particular couple? I have found that with the settings I use, there are some sims for whom the romantic options don't come up, but then when I investigate I find that one of them is already in a relationship.

If you are using StoryProgression and Woohooer together, this is a common unwanted effect. When the mods are "linked" as they are by default, then SP has to provide explicit allowances for romance on each specific age caste. So one way is to open up those romantic options in SP for Teens (as wanted), YAs, Adults, and Elders (as wanted).

The other way, but one that might provide a small number of side-effects, is to break the link between the two mods.
NRaas > Woohooer > General > Link to StoryProgression > False.
(as it so happens, I've been playing this way for years and overall it's been fine)

If both mods are not in play, or only one is (which one?), we would need to know exactly what you are using to drive story progression and what other kinds of mods that control romance might be in play.

Wait, actually, I tried another work around that ended up saying the male was cheating, but it says he's single and none of his relationships ( I added him to the active household) are romantic. Did you get this problem and if you did, how did you fix this?

Can you give me the exact steps for the first option? I do have both mods in play but have never had an issue until randomly today.Â
In the meantime, I tried the second thing of unlinking the mods, and that worked (!!!), but how will that affect my game and do you know why it all of a sudden became an issue?Â

Thanks so much for your help guys!

Are the sims in question in different age stages? That can cause the issue if the caste options for the age stages don’t allow it.

On City Hall or an in-game computer,
NRaas > SP > Caste Options > Young Adults > Romance:Allow Partner Caste > (the castes you want YAs to be able to be coupled and romantic with)

Then do the same for teens, adults, and elders.
Then also do SP > Caste Options > (age caste) > Flirt:Allow Caste

If instead you choose to play with the link between the two mods off, nothing truly horrible will happen. I've found sims I'd really rather not be flirty with each other suddenly deciding to be attracted (siblings-in-law for example), but if that gets out of hand I tend to send one of them away to do something else until they cool off. Sims who should NOT be able to get certain other sims pregnant might suddenly be able to under Woohooer's rule sets, but once SP "notices" the pregnancy that it is disallowing it will terminate it and sometimes before the player even notices when it comes to inactive residents. Stuff like that.

I saw this issue myself with the link in place randomly after traveling and switching active households. If and when playing with the link severed begins to have more of a negative impact on my game (it hasn't yet), I might try a different approach. The next version of Woohooer, currently in beta testing, will have the link broken instead of on by default for just this reason -- when it acts up or rather acts differently all of a sudden, it takes the player by surprise as it seems to have done in your game recently.

They're both young adults actually! That's why I was so confusedÂ

Gotcha! So yeah, the problem isn't that one is a teen and the other an adult as they are both Young adults. I actually think this may have more to do with the guy possibly being in another relationship, although IDK how. I tried one of my animator apps when I couldnt access the other options, and a notification came up saying Richie wasn't being faithful. Which is super weird because he has no romantic relationships in his friends.
