Quick question

Post by Kylasimmer » December 14th, 2018, 7:22 pm

Okay so I wasn't sure where to post this but as of recently I've decided that I'd like to use Awesome mod not going to get into details with that I'm sure you all don't care lol but on the old wikispaces page there was like a FAQ of some sort which essentially listed all the twallan mods that wouldn't be needed or would conflict if you were to have awesome mod in your game now common sense tells me some of the ones I'll likely still need but before I just started pulling out mods I wanted to see for sure which ones wouldn't  be needed anymore (example i think awesome mod has a way to use debug cheats so therefore i wouldnt need twallans debug enabler) and access the hassle because if I'm still going to need a lot of twallans mods than I might as well keep playing with them and forget about am. I have cupcake, debug enabler, error trap, master controller + cheats, overwatch, register, traveler, and woohooer.

Quick question

Hi there. None of the mods you listed conflict with AwesomeMod in any serious way. The one to be aware of though is Overwatch, as it's not expecting to encounter Awesome's aging manager. Nothing dreadful should happen, but some players have reported oddities like homeless NPCs not aging as expected (or not dying of old age) with both mods in play.

Oh yes, and Woohooer should not be used to attempt to circumvent Awesome's built-in restrictions on and the subsequent effects imposed on teen-older romance and woohooing.

Here is the page you were remembering.

Quick question

I've got both NRaas and awesomemod in play and have had that for three years though my AM config file only has the automted school assignment override enabled and almost nothing else except a few harmless bug fixes though everything else is disabled.I also use 114 NRaas Mod files which is just about the entire NRaas Mod file collection and it's worked very well for a few years withj my games. The issues with awesome come with how the config file is tuned as a few settings in there can conflict with NRaas Mods when enabled so I would stick with only enabling the automated school assingment override if you still want or need all of the NRaas Mods and were looking to fix school issues.

Quick question

Awesome is a very complex core mod and not all of what it does is controllable by way of the configuration tool. It is not possible to deactivate all but one or two features if the mod is in use as the config files provided do not account for the features for which its developer gives users no choice. Most of its features that are reachable that way though do not cause problems or conflicts.

That's not meant to be a glowing recommendation nor a warning to stay away. But we can't say exactly what makes the Awesome and NRaas combo work well for some players and not so well for others as there are too many variables between them to account for.

No one said anything about school enrollment and I don't see how that is relevant to this thread thus far.

Hi igazor, your like a local hero around these parts been answering questions of mine long before this one lol but thank you so much for the reply and the link to the new page, thing is I have LOTS of cc (mostly merged package files and a some sims 3 packs) and as of recently I just created my own world using caw but I was having some issues with that (now resolved) but when I looked up the problem I was having someone suggested removing the mods folder which I did, I can't remember why but I ended up running my game (forgetting to put the mods folder back but with all the sims 3 packs still installed) and when I say it ran beautifully everything was so smooth I nearly forgot it used to run so well and I want it to run like that all the time awesome mod is fairly light weight and does a lot of things twallans mods do but there's the convenience of it being just one mod.

Quick question

@Tad I want the bug fixes the story progression etc I've had awesome mod in the past but between that twallans mods, and OKW my game lagged entirely too much so I opted to remove AM. I've long since gotten rid of OKW so all that remains is twallans mods and like one by shimrod (no emigration, no move) I also plan to remove this because the goal here is to go with what I can get the most of what I want with the least number of mods for performance sake I wanted story progression for the longest but twallans is a bit intimidating I navigate his mods fairly well but that one always makes me want to rip out patches of my hair. So I said screw it and enabled ea's craptastic story progression and got the shimrod mod so families I like to alternate between didn't move out of town. Any twallan mod that AM has a feature for I want to remove because its pointless to have 2 different mods with the same capabilities and it adds unnecessary bloat to the game.

That Awesome and NRaas mods seem to overlap on so many features isn't really coincidence. Twallan "borrowed" a lot of Awesome's feature concepts when originally setting these mods up, with the intent of making them script mods rather than core mods (like Awesome is). In fact originally under slightly different names, this was before my time with TS3, they were available on the MATY site. Their respective development has, of course, taken off in different directions from there.

Not sure I would call Awesome lightweight, but certainly its Story Mode has a lighter footprint on performance than NRaas StoryProgression tends to have. But Story Mode is not really customizable like SP is. It's all a matter of tradeoffs in many ways. If you can really make EA's story progression work well for you then that's great too, but most of us find it just breaks down and stops working after a generation or two.

The KW mod is not conducive to good performance nor to long-running games. In fact, ongoing games that have or ever had the KW mod in play are not supportable on this site due to how strongly it conflicts with NRaas mods.
