How does Story Progression work?

Post by Stephf67 » December 5th, 2018, 3:52 pm

If I disable the mod Story Progression, will it disable aging or will it go to base game story progression? How do I make it so it's not hectic in romance? If I have certain settings for story progression (the town) does that involve my sims too? So theoretically if I have story progression set so it's not so hectic in romance (no teen pregnancy and no hoping around from partner to partner) would that include my Sims too?

How does Story Progression work?

Hi there.

If StoryProgression's version of progression is disabled or if the mod is removed, then EA's version of story progression takes over if the story progression box is checked in the built-in Game Options. If the box is not checked, then there will be no progression. Aging is the same, all sims in town will age if aging is selected in the built-in Game Options, otherwise none will age.

While the SP mod does set guidelines for behavior for all sims in the world, it's main purview is to push inactive sims around. It does not partner up your actively being played sims while they are active nor does it make them pregnant. If you are interested in Roational Play through which we play more than one household in turns and in providing protection for "your" sims while they are not active, we can help as SP provides the tools required to exempt specific inactive sims and households from unwanted forms of progression while it continues to push the rest of the town. But if you are only really playing one household per game save, then there is no need to worry about what SP will do with your active household.

SP has a series of General Options, but many others are arranged in hierarchies .
Town > Lot > Household > Caste > Sim

Options on the left flow down to those on the right. Options set explicitly on the right trump those on the left.

So setting aging on, for example, or any other such option at the Town level, but off at the let's say Female Caste level, but on at the sim level for Susie Sim, then the entire town will age except for females who will not. Susie will be an exception and will age.

SP contains some flirt scenarios and it is ultimately responsible for the sims under its purview coupling up, progressing their relationships, or progressing backwards in some cases until they break up. But it is not the NRaas romance manager, that honor goes to the Woohooer mod. SP does not allow teens to woohoo so thus no trying for baby, again that's Woohooer. It does optionally allow teen pregnancy if wanted but the conception has to happen from or be directed by some other source.
