Help getting more than 8 Sims

Post by blakjesus21 » November 25th, 2018, 9:08 am

I would really like to have more than 8 Sims in my household, but everything I try wont allow it. I have the following Nraas mods: MasterController (and all its variations), Mover, Overwatch, PortraitPanel, Saver, StoryProgression (-Population, -Relationships), Traveler, Errortrap, Careers, Cupcake, Vector, and Woohooer. I have looked through all of the settings for each mod to make sure each allows more than 8 sims in a household. I believe I have no mods that interfere with getting more than 8 sims in a household. I have watched countless videos and looked through forums, but I find, those who have the same amount of mods as I, are not finding direct answers. If anyone could please help me figure this out, it would be greatly appreciated!

Help getting more than 8 Sims

Each of the mods involved with lifting Greater Than Eight restrictions does so in very different ways.

MC: NRaas > MC > Settings > Allow More Than Eight > True
This only applies to MC commands specifically, like Add Sim, Pollinate, Instant Baby, Adopt. It changes nothing about gameplay.

MC Integration: With the setting above, allows up to 10 sims in Create a Household (CAH). Still changes nothing about gameplay.

Woohooer: Potentially unlocks Risky and TryForBaby when a household is full or already overstuffed.

Mover: Unlocks in-game moves using the phone/computer into and away from overstuffed households, as well as moves and splits using Edit Town.

StoryProgression: Allows inactive households to overstuff themselves and to hold together if an overstuffed household is switched out of to make a different household active. SP has its own household cap that can be found under Household (Caste, Town) Options

PortraitPanel: Opens up more slots on the portrait panel on the left side of the screen. Doesn't actually allow or disallow anytihng about household size on its own.

So, starting with MC then since this is the simplest. Once you change the MC Setting mentioned above, what happens exacty when you try to MC > Add Sim or do an Instant Baby or Pollinate?

Maybe I am not reading this correctly, but you are saying there are other players reporting the same problem? Is there perhaps a non-NRaas mod in play here that you and these others have in common that is somehow blocking what our mods should be doing -- does this work any better/differently on a test game session with only NRaas mods in play?

When I change the settings in MC, I can do Add Sims/Instant Baby/Pollinate. I guess I should have been more specific with my question. I cannot but would like to be able to Risky Woohoo! or Try for a Baby! when the household is overstuffed in order to have more than 8 sims. I have looked through the Woohooer settings and have changed them so the mod would allow more than 8 sims...I have the Cmar's pregnancy controller version 5, perhaps that is conflicting with Woohooer?

What I meant by my statement was, as I have watched videos on how to get more than 8 sims in a household, some people in the comment sections say they have the MC, Woohooer, Traveler, Mover (like me) but still cannot get more than 8 sims in a household. I am unsure if they have conflicting mods that I have as well...anyways me mentioning that fact was a bit unnecessary. I'll try to remove Cmar's pregnancy controller from my game and see what happens.

CmarNYC's mod does not conflict with Woohooer or any other NRaas mods. Many of us here use it as well.

What could be interfering is StoryProgression though. If you have Woohooer linked to SP (see NRaas > Woohooer > Settings > General), and if SP is not explicitly set to allow larger sized households and for the sims in question to even be woohooing (sounds more like former in this case than the latter), then the options won't show up on in-game menus.

So perhaps either a redo of your SP settings might be in order, or else try removing the link between the two mods.

Resetting my SP settings and unlinking SP and Woohooer did not work either. I'll keep trying though. I can resolve to the "pollinate" function...but it would be nice to figure out the problem.

So I disenabled SP and now I am able to direct my male sims to Try for a Baby with the target female. Even with the Try for a Baby success rate a 100%, she does not get pregnant.

And yet TFB still works in households that are not up to the EA-defined capacity?

And does anything different happen on a test game, not an ongoing save, with all non-NRaas mods removed? By any chance do you have a very adult mod with initials KW in play? (we can skip over that if you have no idea which mod I mean)

Well, when I lasted messaged you, TFB was an option in overstuffed households but would not work. As of just now, for some reason, I can have more than 8 sims in a household without having to do Add Sim/Instant Baby/Pollinate...I have no idea how that happened but thank you for your help. One of your suggestions somehow got all my Nraas mods to align! I think the game finally recognized that I unlinked SP and Woohooer and that I had done a "Total Reset" of SP as well. I also tried running a game without non-NRaas mods, and that worked, so the further good news is that I have no conflicting mods.

Sometimes when you change the settings you have to do a save as, exit the game completely, then reload. Every so often it takes a bit to kick in also.
