Traveling back home after making a new world homeworld.

Post by Floetry » November 19th, 2018, 9:03 pm

I hadn't seen a question like this yet and i was in a bind a while ago but couldn't get a chance to come online to ask.

I had a family that was in sunset valley and i moved them to hidden springs and made that the permanent home. i got notifications that someone was about to pass away in my old town so i wanted to travel back to sunset valley but it wasn't the same world i left. it acted like i was making a totally new game. how do i make it so that when i make a new world my permanent world, that i can travel back to the world i left behind the same?...well the same like if hidden springs is winter and i travel back to sunset valley its winter too.

Thanks:)

The full procedure goes like this:

-Travel to new world (HS) on a vacation-
-Stay wherever the game offers housing (not to be the permanent residence), even an empty lot is okay
-Purchase vacation home  -- you may need to specify that it is Residential-Player Ownable in Edit Town to make it available for purchase
-Move into the vacation home fully by phone command
-Invoke Traveler's Change Hometown command
-Save (As), Exit the game all the way to the Desktop or Origin, Reload as prompted

Your sims should now be permanent residents of their new world (HS) , be able to travel back to where they came from (SV), and have the correct version of SV show up.

Note a few things:

a) The seasons never stay in alignment, for me anyway. Time doesn't really pass in worlds not being actively simulated. But you can change the current season on the fly upon arrival with testingcheatsenabled and a shift-click on the ground.

b) The near death notifications displayed on elder sims in foreign worlds are often bogus, especially if one has Traveler's Ageless Foreign World set to True for the original homeworld.

c) The most recent version of Traveler (v87) is highly recommended. The prior versions had an issue with some of the EA Store worlds, including Hidden Springs, that caused new worlds to spring up when traveled from much as you described even when all of the procedures were carefully followed.

thank you, once i finish my world i will do that. I wish the whole age thing wasn't bogus though. I thought that if i travel back to a previous world friends and family would have aged up the same age as for instance my child or teen like if they were to see cousins or something for the holidays.

It isn't always bogus.

If you are actively playing HS as a homeworld (not a vacation) and in HS have Traveler's Ageless Foreign for SV set to True, then the foreign sims will not age. This is useful if you want to play one or more foreign worlds in turns/rotations and not miss any generational advancement between such turns.

If you are actively playing HS as a homeworld and in HS have Traveler's Ageless Foreign for SV set to False, then foreign sims will have their ages incremented by one sim day each at midnight. They are still frozen in suspended animation, but will age up to the next stage(s)  if enough time has passed for them to land in later age groups the next time they are simulated such as when you send a sim back for a return visit. They will then also pass away from old age if enough time has passed and that becomes relevant, again when they are next called upon to be simulated. They can't actually die while they are frozen in time and the world isn't being played.

But sometimes the data held pending for these sims in the TravelDB file gets out of sync with what's really happening and a bunch of "near death" notices are generated for foreign sims who are really nowhere near doing so or indeed have already died long ago.

Landing in a new or the wrong instance of SV upon return travel is another matter, and of course that isn't at all what anyone would want or expect.
