Multiple babies

Post by Anaria » November 4th, 2018, 8:32 am

Hi

I found the setting under basic/baby but I don't understand what the number means under multiple setting. I would like my sim to have twins (girls) but NOT triplets. How should I set it to get twins? L

thank you

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas.

The MC setting you found dictates the percent chance of a multiple birth of any kind (twins, triplets, quads if you have Woohooer to unlock those). There is no MC setting I know of to insist on 2 and only 2 babies out of a particular pregnancy. There might be a way to trick things out by setting the chance of a multiple birth to 100% (or 1.0, I forget how that range goes exactly) but cap the household to the current size plus two with SP.

But it may be much easier to use CmarNYC's Pregnancy Controller mod instead. Note though that she says limting a multiple birth to 2 still provides a small chance of triplets unless the household size is capped. Her mod is totally compatible with ours.

I had something like that happen to me haha. I have Cmar's pregnancy and woohooer mods. My Sim grandson and his wife had twins in the second pregnancy, but I had households having only a maximum of 2 kids (try to tame the population, and my family tree since my Sim had 11 grandchildren who all married and were having kids). I'm thinking eh, ok, that's not so bad, but they can be done having kids now. So when I went to the house to get him and his wife sterilized, it was only showing 2 kids; the oldest and one of the twins. The other twin was still in the family tree and still in their relationships panel. So I start freaking trying to find this other baby. Then I put 2 and 2 together and realized it was because of the 2 kid cap. So needless to say I put the maximum kids back to unlimited and the little guy showed up lol. I figured I'll just have to go around and sterilize Sims when they've had the number of kids I'd like them to have so that way that doesn't happen again.

IrishGoddess89 - Are we talking about SP's Sim (Household, Caste, Town) Options > Pregnancy: Maximum Number of Children? That's really a cap on planned offspring, multiple births are supposed to be able to cut through that cap when they happen. Or is there another setting I'm missing?

Idk, maybe? I just know that I had the max kids at 2 for households, and that the 2nd pregnancy was twins. But the 2nd twin was missing, because of the cap I guess. But his picture was still in the family tree and was still in his parents' relationships panel. I kept trying to do ResetSim on him but he wasn't popping up. Once I made the max unlimited again, did ResetSim again, he popped up on the lot. It was weird. But because of that, I have left the max as unlimited. I just have to keep an eye on who's having how many kids, like w/ the messages that pop up like "So and So were seen out baby shopping" or something. If I want them to be done after that, I just go right over and have the guy go get a vasectomy, so in case I get side tracked and forget to go over there after the baby is born to get the woman's tubes tied. At least one of them would be fixed.

IrishGoddess89 - If it's the KW mod that is carrying that setting, as well as the vasectomy and tube tying things unless you meant those figuratively, then I think we can see where the issue would have been coming from. The NRaas SP option alone isn't meant to work that way.

It's the hospital overhaul mod that does the sterilization.

IrishGoddess89 - There are two Hospital Overhaul mods still floating around out there. One is from Simlogical, the other is from an independent site. Both of them were designed for Patch 1.57, and the later patches broke them to the extent that players' games have been totally ruined by keeping them in play even when nothing hospital related was going on (some are able to keep using them successfully).

We understand why they were popular, but it is our advice to not continue using either of these mods on current patch levels (1.67/1.69) as they are very much doing so at their own risk.
