Do some of the mods nraas have the function of preventing the sims from changing physically?

Post by Garmonon » October 22nd, 2018, 1:45 pm

Hi, I'm going to the forum to see if there are any NRaas that prevent sims from changing physically, that is to say, to avoid that it increases the musculature with the gymnasium or that it increases the fatness with the excessive meals, I want my sims to remain with their original physical form and not have to be modified in CUS to eliminate the muscles they acquire, since they go to the gym a lot when the domestic unit is inactive.

Do some of the mods nraas have the function of preventing the sims from changing physically?

Hi there. Moving this to Chatterbox (general discussion board) since Site Help and Feedback is about this website, not the mods themselves.

The short answer is not really but there are other ways to address that. The way this works is that sims have two each values for their fitness and weight, one is genetic (more permanent) the other is temporary. When a sim does a strength/cardio workout or overeats beyond having the Stuffed moodlet, it is their temporary fitness and weight values that change. When the exercise and/or overeating stops, the temporary values should slowly start reverting back to their genetic ones again on their own. How quickly the changes take place and how quickly they revert are also a function of their metabolism.

MasterController can reach both the temporary and the underlying genetic values (MC Cheats module required):
NRaas > MC > Sim > Intermediate > Weight
(same menu) > Fitness

If you change the value in MC and hit the checkbox twice, you are changing the temporary one, the sims' (if they aren't exercising or overeating at the time) appearance will change accordingly, and they will begin to revert to their genetic one from there right away. If you change the value in MC, hit the checkbox once but then the X, as prompted you are changing the underlying genetic value that the sim reverts to but not their temporary appearance. One can, of course, change both values one after the other.

There are very few ways in-game to change the underlying genetic weight and fitness values for sims. It's pretty drastic, that would be things like having surgery at the hospital. Bringing a sim into any form of CAS and changing their weight and fitness sliders will do this, but that's generally "overkill" if they were only appearing different temporarily as described.

There is nothing I know of that can reach the hidden metabolism value that dictates how quickly this all happens in one direction or another other than an LTR that makes it act all goofy (on purpose).

And just to make things more confusing, if you are still with me, there is a bug in the game that can make a sim's fitness value continue to increase after the exercise stops (especially swimming it seems) if the sim is in a good mood. That can give the appearance of things going all wrong, but it's really their temporary values that are still changing. Saving, quitting, and reloading the game will stop that.

All of the above is for background, now to answer the question actually being asked. In order to stop the temporary increases in fitness and weight associated with exercising, the tuning values for every conceivable piece of workout equipment and exercise need to be adjusted individually. It's not intuitively obvious how to do that even for those of us familiar with Retuner. Shimrod has a tuning mod available at The Sims Asylum that will make those changes on startup so the user doesn't have to worry about them.

Afraid I don't know of an equivalent mod to halt temporary weight gain from overeating. There might be one out there, but this one doesn't usually hit as many of our sims as hard as exercising does; it typically takes A LOT of food for this to even happen (for most of us). The sim needs to have the Stuffed moodlet already, which meant they already ate when they were not hungry, and keep eating beyond that sometimes two or three more full servings of meals, in order for that kind of weight gain to kick in. An extra slice of pizza or a dessert when the sim's hunger bar is full (at 100) will not do this on its own if they then stop eating, that will just give them the Stuffed moodlet for a few sim hours.

Whew, that was a lot for such a simple looking question but welcome to the Sims' world. Hope it wasn't too much of an answer and it helps clarify what you are seeing a bit.

Shimrod also has one called Low Fat Sims http://simsasylum.com/tfm/index.php?/to ... -fat-sims/ that deals with the weight gain. I have watched only one sim get fat from over eating, Pauline Wan kept overeating at the buffet during my sims wedding in Sunset Valley, I watched her grow about 4 sizes during the wedding. Was kinda funny to watch.

Huh, thanks. I didn't know that one was there. I might have subconsciously avoided it from its name, not its intended purpose. Low Fat Sims makes me think of skim (nonfat) milk, beer with the alcohol removed (I don't even like beer to begin with), decaf coffee, and popcorn without butter. All the things in the world that I don't want anywhere near me.  :(

Yeah, at first I was like what? But I tend to read the description just in case it might be something I need.
