Congestion

Post by deadspear » October 14th, 2018, 12:32 pm

Hello, does anyone know if these settings work:[Config]
DynamicAvoidance_FieldRadius = 0.1
DynamicAvoidance_InactiveFieldLength = 0.1
DynamicAvoidance_MinNonIntersectingDistance = 0.1
DynamicAvoidance_FieldLengthPad = 0.1
DynamicAvoidance_StopDistanceMultiplier = 0.1
Stroller_MinimumPathLength = 5.5
Stroller_MaxIncline = 0.05

They are suppose to turn the Sims non solid to help with congestion and routing issues, but it doesnt seem to work as the Sims are sitll solid and wait on mass for them to go in the door one by ones.

Congestion

Without the expertise to answer the question more fully than perhaps others can, my sense is that preventing sims from bumping into objects and each other as described will not help with the part where they still have to file through a door one by one in turn. It may help on either side of the door for them to form a more orderly queue and not keep bumping into each other and having to re-queue themselves, but the door is still a bottleneck to be reckoned with especially if it is a single one.

What kind of door are we talking about, the ways to cope with such bottlenecking will be different in different cases. Are we concentrating on doors interior to a house, a residential lot's entrance, the one usable (without a mod to address this) entrance to a rabbit hole building, a playable venue's entrance/exit, something else?

Rabbit holes mostly, they pile up outside, around 10 and tap their feet, going in one by one.

Hello deadspear,
I am not familiar with the settings in your post but re the RH's:
Aussome Days over at MTS has a mod for Additional Entry and Exit Routing Slots to Reduce Door Crowding - Schools, University.
https://web.archive.org/web/20180218210 ... p?t=568897.

Another way around this would be to add additional school or business RH's and assign specific sims to those lots using Master Controller and the Careers and Careers School Module.
There is more detail for this here: https://web.archive.org/web/20180328000 ... %20Schools

Tweaks to that ini file won't do anything. Over at Sims Asylum Twoftmama has a couple of mods that can help with that Route Fix and No Route Fail Animation and Bluegenjutsu also at Sims Asylum has a No Foot Tapping Mod.

Yes, brappl beat me to it. I hardly ever see huge bottlenecking outside of school and Uni rabbitholes that have more than one door since putting that mod to use unless the job site or school is far too overstuffed with sims needing to be inside than even the mod can effectively handle. It takes A LOT of sims trying to get inside all at once for that to happen unless the rabbithole was only designed with one door to begin with.

But if you have something like 40 sims trying to begin their work shifts all at the same business building or community theatre at the same time, then you either need more than one of these in town or perhaps consider taking steps to spread these sims around to different careers. Possibly they all have the same or similar LTWs or something that is pushing them to all work in the same place? With only 10 or so, that can certainly still be improved upon. The mods that sittingbear mention can help keep things more orderly in general as the sims wait to enter as well.
