gender preference question

Post by haywud » April 19th, 2016, 9:50 am

I tried looking but couldn't find what I was looking for, so figured I'd ask here. Is there any way to make autonomous interactions ignore gender preference? I would love to see autonomous actions ignore preference for sims that don't have a high gender preference. Like for example if a sim has a preference of +2 for males and -1 for females I think with that low of preference towards males it would be nice to see autonomous actions with appropriate females. I wouldn't want to see sims with high preference numbers flirting with the gender they don't like though.

Again, I tried looking to see if there was a way to do this but my search came up blank. Not sure it's even possible though, the game seems to use preference as a major factor in order to determine if two sims can do any romantic interactions autonomously. I have a feeling I already know the answer to my question, but still I thought it might be worth asking.

Not that I know of, though someone else may have found a creative way to allow for that. The values for gender prefs are not measures of intensity. That is, a sim with a +2 pref for males is not any more passionately or obsessively attracted in males than one with a pref of +50,000. Either way, they are just attracted to males. It's just that the second one is likely to never have enough negative experiences with males in their lifetime for that to change, while the first one very well might.

Same with the negative prefs; a -1 for females is still a lack of attraction just as much as -50,000 would be. But the first sim would be more easily able to change their minds about that after a small number of positive experiences whereas the second one not so much.

Darn I was hoping there was a way with Woohooer that I may have missed. There have been so many times where I just couldn't find my sims a suitable partner of their preferred gender, so I'd look for someone of the other gender and I end up having to force interactions or use MC to adjust the preference. It would be nice if the game didn't factor in preference when it comes to autonomous romance, sure it would normally cause some weird situations for couples but that's what those options are for in Woohooer that only allow couples to flirt with their partners.

Speaking of only flirting with partners, and this is a bit off topic, but how do I stop my partnered sims (especially married ones) from doing the ask to watch stars interaction with people that aren't their partner? Ever since buying and installing Generations this has been going on, and it seems to be the only romantic interaction that partnered sims will use on people that aren't their partner. If nothing else I'll try making a XML tuning mod. I'm not a modder at all but even I can put together a few XML tuning mods.

We'll have to let a coder comment on this, but you're right. There's something "different" about that interaction whereby the game doesn't see it as romantic but it is anyway, or something like that. Bluegenjutsu has a More/Less/No Watching the Stars mod at The Naughty Sims Asylum.

If the tuning mod I made doesn't work I'll definitely head over to the Asylum. I'm already registered and have quite a few mods from there, including at least 6 just from Bluegenjutsu. I'm not sure why I didn't think to check the Asylum before trying my own, oh well if all else fails I know there is one at the Asylum. So far from what little I've tested I haven't seen anyone doing that interaction with the one I made. Yeah I'm not that great at stuff like this to be honest, but for the most part XML and ITUN mods are something I can actually do with S3PE and are usually fairly simple.
