Question about how the test version tagger works

Post by Tommee1 » May 11th, 2015, 10:58 am

I have been trying the test version of tagger, I have the test version of MC also. When you use the filter to tag a group of sims is this mod built to make all other sim tags go away and only show the tagged group with normal sim tags? That is what is happening in my game. Also when I want to see all of the other sims in my game tagged how to I get that back? I am using this on a different save just in case things go awry. Thanks

Sorry I am not following.

The point of making "filters" is to match a criteria between the selected Sim and other Sim all over town. If Sims doesn't match the criteria all of the SimTags will dissapear when you activate the Filter (>True) on CityHall> NRaas> Tagger> Tag Filters>.

There is an option to Match All Filters, leave that one on False, if you have used different criteria's which doesn't match up to one specific Sim (such as Gender Male and Female, or Good Friend and Best Friend).

For temporary assigning, such as groups outing, I would use the SimTag feature when clicking on a Sim> Nraas> Tagger> Tag Sim. So when the group outing is done you can manually deselect them individually.
Or if you are adventurous, gift them all a death flower or something other Sims don't carry in their inventory and then make a filter> Inventory> Has Death Flower.

I dont need to find connections between my selected sim and other sims, I thought the testing version of tagger was to be more inclusive like the older system of tags that was in MC. Please let me know if my thinking is not something that this mod can do. The current Tagger mod is of little use to me because I "jump" from sim to sim usually or formerly by searching for criteria that I desire then tagging those sims that meet that criteria then I can watch them globally and see who looks most interesting to play or I jump between multiple sims who have the criteria that I am looking for. I can't tag the sims individually from the sim menu because I don't know which sims have the criteria I am looking for. If Tagger is not made for that I will remove it as it is not what I am looking for.

But I will explain my current situation, I was looking for adult sims with the nurturing trait. I forgot to add resident sims to the filter so I ended with a list of 8 sims but when I activated the tag I only saw 3, because I think the other sims with the nurturing trait were role sims or NPC who were not currently in the world. So I just clicked on the 3 that I saw till I found a resident sim and I made that sim active. However the moment I used the filter to filter the sims with that trait those 3 sims that I found were the only sim tags that appeared. All of the other sim tags disappeared. Then when I made the resident sim active she and her family are the only sim tags that show in game. I was thinking the filter would tag the sims with the fancy star type tag and the normal sim tags would remain so I could see all of the other sims in my world in map view also.

I figured out how to get the other sim tags back, I was just trying to make sure that what I was seeing in my game, as described above, is what the Tagger function is meant to do? I am thinking the answer is yes, but I wanted to get confirmation because I know I could definitely be wrong in my understanding of these mods. This mod does not tag the desired sims with the fancy gold star like in the old version of SP ( mistakenly said MC above) but instead it will only show the normal tags of the sims who fit the filter criteria and no other tags will be seen until the filter is deactivated, is that a true statement?

Sorry for any confusion I can be long winded and I saw that my question was lost in the mix, hope I am more clear now. Thanks

Although it can be used the way you like it too be, but that would require you to switch those tags filters on and off, for you to see the selection (True) then turn it off too see everyone else (False) again.
To see with a star you still will need them to tag them individually, such as what you needed to do with the prior MC. That part hasn't changed at all.

But this whole system your thinking off is already available with MC, focus and status command, albeit you don't directly see a Maptag tool tip, if they aren't selected (by default they are with Tagger and what you see in the tooltip when hovering over the icon).

Tagger is far from it to be used as a search engine within a game, to just give a criteria and those in the criteria showing as special icons, maybe (looking at Chain) a future feature although unsure how much stress it's able to handle any further. But it's still in its infant, maybe teen phase that slowly is evolving for the better to what we had on SP Maptag system.
And that would probably be the scope of tagger at this stage to have an equal or better replacement for what we had in SP Maptag system.

What you are looking for is:
1. CityHall> NRaas> MC> Sim> Focus> Criteria: Trait (Nurturing) & Type Of Sim (And) (Resident)> portraits of Sims and focus on each of them individually (or write it down or make a screenshot of the list)
2. With every Sim matching that Criteria, click Sim> NRaas> Tagger> Tag Sim, you probably need to enter street view and back to overview to see the updated icons.
Which you probably already know or did with the old MC system.

The filters are meant to hide all other maptags that doesn't meet those criteria given in those filters.

ok I got it now! Thanks J4Ks for taking the time to read through my confusing post LOL.

Yes I had been trying to use Focus in the manner you described but when trying to search for dozens of sims to tag out of 200 that got very tedious and I gave up the last time. That was when I tried using the testing version of tagger. It works well enough for my purpose. What I ended up doing was using the filter to find my nurturing adult sims, then when they were the only sims with tags I individually tagged them, then I set the filter back to false so all of the other sim tags would come back up but I still had the sims of interested tagged with the shiny star! Yay!

Phew, yeah that's an alternative method to use. Glad you could find something interesting to use in Tagger.

Remember, when you are done with a specific filter and won't use it again, you can delete it that save filter in MC> Settings> Delete Filter. Only the self made filters shows up, this to prevent overcrowding the default filter list in MC, cause I assume you will be making more of them when the time comes.

Though, you could bulk them up to one specific name so it gets sorted down the filter list after Zodiac as given it a name like "ZZTaggerFilter-Nurturing Trait" etc etc.
