Register and Role Sims skills

Role Sims, homeless, service Sims, oh my. Something tells me we're not in Sunset Valley anymore.

Register and Role Sims skills

Post by babele44 » March 10th, 2015, 9:45 am

I had always been under the impression that when Register assigns a role Sim (either manually or automatically) that this Sim would be automatically equipped with necessary skills (Piano, Mixology, Stylist) on assignment. Recently I have noticed, however, that this isn't the case anymore. Mixologists arrive with either a skill level of 0 or -1 and Pianists with 0 skill. This has happened in three different new games so far. Is this a case for Issues or was I just imagining things in the past, because back then they all had the necessary skill right from the start?

I see the skills provided to some extent when sims are created to fill a role, but not so much when existing sims in the pool are reassigned. A cash register attendant or Seasons festival worker who later pops up as a mixologist doesn't seem to necessarily pick up the appropriate skills along the way. But not sure if that's been coincidence or the way things were intended, so this is an interesting question.

Hmm. Do you have the skills module for SP? Do you have resident role assignment enabled?

I don't use SP, so, no, and resident role assignment is enabled but I use homeless Sims usually. What I do when I start a new town is to place several households in empty lots, evict them, thus render them homeless and choose the roles from these manually or wait for what Register chooses and either leave it or change it manually afterwards. This used to work flawlessly but this is now the third game where mixologists and pianists in particular end up without the skills.

Interesting. The code is definitely there and has to be running otherwise they wouldn't show up. I'll keep an eye out.
