Overwatch menu stopped appearing / Sims "run out of town"

Post by Rurikovich » September 8th, 2018, 7:28 pm

Hello, I searched to see if anyone had any similar problems but I could not find any threads about it. I have Overwatch plus the other big Twallan mods installed, I.E. Master Controller, Story Progression, et cetera, and they have been working fine. That is, except for Overwatch, whose menu no longer appears when I click the Nraas menu in-game. Interestingly, it still appears to actually work in-game, as it still clears cars and such at night, but I can't appear to access the menu anymore.

More frustratingly, when it clears vehicles it also states that "(Number of Sims) has been run out of town" and also appears to delete ghosts. I am not exactly sure what it is doing when it says that it's "running Sims out of town," but I am pretty sure it is flat-out deleting those Sims, because sometimes after that message appears I check my relationships list and some of my friends do not appear at all...

Normally I would chock this up to conflicting mods, which I still consider to be the most likely issue, but what confuses me is that the other Nraas mods such as Story Progression still work and I can access their settings just fine. It just appears that I can no longer touch Overwatch's settings, and it appears to have applied Sim-clearing to its list of things to do, which I would like to turn off.

I had downloaded some custom worlds and hair/clothing mods recently, so that might be part of the trouble, but I wanted to check here before I did anything.

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas.

This is not a known issue. But Overwatch command menus don't appear all over the place under NRaas like some of the other mods do. The important places to look are City Hall and in-game computers. It's not on either of those? Have you ever worked with or attempted to work with a standalone tuning file to impact the mods' behaviors?

Do you routinely clear (delete) the scriptCache.package file on the top level of the TS3 user game folder in Documents? If not, give that a try. Or, on almost a simpler level, try removing the mod, download the current version of OW, and put that in place.

As you suspect a conflict with something else, the best test would be to load up a test session of the game, try an existing one then try a new game, with all non-NRaas mods removed, the scriptCache cleared again, and see if the menu returns. If it does, then you know the culprit is something that you just removed.

The run out of town thing is OW reacting to homeless sims. The setting that gates that is NRaas > OW > Settings > Clean Up All Homeless > (default is False). But of course you have to get to the menu first in order to see what it is set to or to change it.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I started with your first suggestion and deleted the scriptCache file, and this appears to have solved all of my problems as I am now able to access Overwatch, Mover, and others from the town hall again. As such I have reset Clean Up All Homeless to false. Thanks again.
