Script Error when trying to use Appaloosa Civic Center

Post by lizardofoz » September 8th, 2018, 10:31 pm

I've been getting script errors whenever I try to do things involving the police station. I haven't thoroughly tested how many interactions are affected, but so far I'm unable to complete opportunities or join the law enforcement career. Judging by the script error log name, it seems to have something to do with the laptop item, which is odd because my current family doesn't even have one. I've been going directly to the rabbit hole.

Ignore the comment about the laptop item. I'm sleep deprived. I realize now it was referring to MY laptop.

I'm not very familiar with this error, perhaps our developer will understand what's going on when he sees it. This may be off base, but it looks to me like the problem (this particular one) is really with getting the active sim disengaged from the ghost hunter career as some kind of ghost hunting scenario might still be stuck running more than it is with getting them into law enforcement. Does MC resetting the sim help? And from there, instead of trying to use the rabbitholes to get a new job how about
NRaas > MC > (Sim) > Intermediate > Career > Quit
NRaas > MC > (Sim) > Intermediate > Career > Choose Job
(the only reason to do this in two steps is to see where, if in either place, the error shows up again)

If you get the same errors, then perhaps the old fashioned kind of reset will help, the one where you retreat to Edit Town, evict your entire household to the side of the map, copy the residential lot, bulldoze, replace it, move everyone back in without having left the screen -- note, this will also reset all promised wishes and opportunities in progress.

Historically the municipal combo lots proved impossible to work with when it comes to opps, but that was fixed with Overwatch long ago and you have the current version. This one could still be acting up, in which case separating the Civic Center out into three standalone rabbit holes might help. But this really shouldn't be necessary anymore and I'm still currently more suspicious of stuck ghost hunter scenario running in the background than of the combo lot being the (only) culprit.

Thanks, that helped a ton. You were right - it's a problem with the Ghost Hunter profession. An active job has been stuck and unfinishable for days, and I've just been ignoring it. The glitches I'm getting with the profession are the main reason I decided to switch to a rabbit hole career. Once I manually quit Ghost Hunter, I was able to join the police career.

Of course, I still don't know what's wrong with the Ghost Hunter profession, which is sad. It will probably take some more investigating I guess. Thanks again!

Did the ghost hunter sim perhaps get reset or maybe the lot the possessed object was on? Maybe the possessed object deleted?
