Unusual ScriptErrors

Post by Sarah_Sims » August 26th, 2016, 10:36 pm

I found April Fenderson standing by the side of the road which is near the river. Her bike was standing in the road near her. April kept disappearing then re-appearing. I let her do this 4 or 5 times then reset her with MC. The bike was left standing in the road so I deleted it. Looked at the river and found three stranded boats so deleted them as well.

Do I need to do anything else?

Multiple instances of the same error. I'm going to assume you have boat routing disabled in GoHere v44. The sim is attempting to obey a push to Go Home by using a Paddle Boat no matter what. When they get that stubborn about it, all we can do is reset them, as you have done, and force delete (flush) the boats from the World Lot with MC.

Chain will be happy (?) to see this. He's been waiting for a series of errors regarding boat routing. If indeed you have that disabled. These were an all the time occurrence with GoHere v43 but they're pretty rare (for me) now. Though I do step in and get rid of the boats when I notice them spawning in time in worlds where I just don't want them or they don't make sense to be there.

Curious though, the actual error being thrown:
#0: 0x00004 callvirt in Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Vehicles.Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Vehicles.Vehicle:RestoreItemsInHand (Sims3.Gameplay.Actors.Sim) ([00000000] )

This sim isn't still wandering around with a plate of hot dogs in their hand from the previous microwave disaster, are they? Okay just kidding, it's probably related to the stuck bicycle. :)

Looks like the same error's Brappl was having. Not convinced it's related to the boat routing but it's possible. That code errors out for many reasons unknown before the boating code was introduced. I wouldn't worry too much.

Hi igazor! Yes I do have boat routing disabled in GoHere's testing version 44c. The errors are pretty rare for me too but the reason I thought these ones were unusual was because normally, what happens when I get a boat routing error, is the sim will teleport into the sky and disappear completely. Then I have to use the console cheat "resetsim <simname>" because they cannot be located on the map. After this, I usually go and find them to give them a good hard reset with MC also, just to make sure they're well and truly reset.

This time it was different because I could still see April, disappearing and re-appearing over and over again. And no, she's not the sim with the hot dogs stuck in her hand lol!

Okay Chain, thank you. Bit disappointed the scripterrors didn't help you with the boat routing issues but never mind. :-)

A sim flickering, appearing and disappearing repeatedly while stuck in pretty much one spot -- I've seen that in several contexts. Not an everyday occurrence of course. To me, it means the sims is getting some kind of conflicting instructions and just cannot deal with what it's being pushed to do.

One example is a Role Sim who is overdue to age up. They need to go "off the map" to do that, but they might be pushed to take their assigned station by Register or the game itself at the same time and they kind of "don't know what to do." This is much less common now for me than it used to be many versions of Register ago (or without Register at all). The solution there is usually to shove the Role Sim's age back down temporarily with MC or get rid of them and replace the assignment with a new sim. Or play with aging off for Role Sims, which also solves the problem in a different way.

Another place I've seen these is with the still relatively new Woohooer's Order Professional Services. Sometimes, in an overly busy world, the service provider would get stuck on their way to the "customer's" house and I would eventually find them standing by the side of the road in some kind of catatonic state, not knowing what they were supposed to do or seemingly which pushes to obey. Solution was clear, reset the service provider and find the "customer" something else to do because the evening they had planed is just not going to happen. My reports of these must have driven Chain nuts for a while, but it was all fine and in good fun because I never really needed that particular feature to work properly in all worlds. Not sure why anyone's game should depend on such a feature, frankly, fun though it can be when it does work.

And I've seen it with boat routing issues, which is what led me to believe from your description that the game was trying to push your sim into a boat to Go Home but GoHere was saying, no you cannot do that. Repeatedly. Just a hunch really, and maybe an incorrect one based on Chain's lack of being convinced, but it all certainly sounded very familiar.

It's the first time I've ever seen a sim do the disappearing/re-appearing thing. It's probably because of our different play styles. I've never seen a Role Sim get anywhere near their birthday yet because I have such long age spans and I don't play with the Professional Services either but thank you for the explanations. I too thought the game was pushing April to use a paddle boat and her bike at the same time but obviously not. Never mind though. Maybe one day we'll crack this boat routing thing. ;-)
