Uninstalling GoHere corrupts my save game

Uninstalling GoHere corrupts my save game

I tried taking out GoHere because I wanted to see if my Sims would be able to go on Field Trips if I took it out. Also, it seems to send too many townies to one particular lot (Monticello Plaza in SV) while the festival lot is completely empty.

I reset everything with MC before I took it out. Then I removed GoHere, deleted the cache files, and reloaded the save. Then I reset everything again, saved the game, and then quit.

I've tried this multiple times, and what usually happens is, I am not able to reload the save after I remove GoHere. The 2nd loading screen stops either somewhere in the middle or at the very end when there's 1% to go. In this instance, the save game reloaded once after I took it out, but then it would not reload after I saved and quit the game, just like before.

All of this started after I removed GoHere, so it looks like I have no choice but to keep it if I want to play my game. I thought I was removing it properly.

Apparently I had installed a testing version of GoHere, 44g, and forgot I had done this for some reason. I put in 44n (the latest testing version) and i'll see if that makes a difference. If not, I'll try the released version, v 43.

Just a theory, but I'm wondering if it's the MC Resets in such rapid succession that are contributing to this. Are you running the game clock for a bit to stabilize things after they take place? It could be that the resets are leaving sims in a fragile state until things start moving forward again. As far as I know, GoHere beta or otherwise has always been totally removable. It's remotely possible (pending a comment from Chain) that the sudden removal of the beta version's door filters are/were making something upset, but I've never seen that happen.

The first time I reset everything (before saving, quitting, and removing GoHere), I tried not to let the game clock run at all because I thought that Sims might immediately try to route somewhere. So I paused, saved, and quit the game immediately after I reset everything. The second time I reset everything, after removing GoHere, I let the game clock run a little.

It might have left the Sims in a fragile state because something really wierd happened. I was able to reload the save game once after taking out GoHere. When I reloaded it, I had my Sims throw a party and I had one of them grill some hot dogs outside. For the whole party, the whole household had the "continue grilling" interaction in their queue. It wouldn't go away. If I assigned them to do something else, they would carry out that interaction. The interaction thumbnail kind of "covered up" the continue grilling thumbnail, but didn't replace it. So the "continue griling" interaction stayed in their queue, although they would do the things that I told them to do. If there was no other interaction in the queue besides 'continue grilling', then they would just stand there. I tried selling the grill. It didn't work. Then I tried resetting the entire lot. Not only did resetting the lot take forever for some reason, but it didn't work either! I took it as a sign of corruption, although I had been able to reload the game in that one instance.

Hmm. Well, a DE reset of the sims might have been worth a try at that point with the bogus grilling queued actions, but of course you wouldn't want to have to do that on every sim across town individually. Other things may have been wrong at the same time, as it sounds like you suspected. GoHere has always been described as an injection mod. I take that to mean that it "injects" its routing system changes a sim minute or three after loadup, which is why sims who were already on their way someplace out on the world lot end up standing by the side of the road not doing anything until they get pushed again when a new game session is started even with the mod consistently present. If the mod is removed, then EA's system takes over again. The corruption from just pulling out the mod still sounds unusual to me.

First, GoHere doesn't control what lots Sims are sent to, that's still all EA. And it doesn't modify the field trip system either. Second, this is news to me. I've definitely yanked the mod several times to reduce loading times while testing others and experienced no side effects. Not entirely sure what might be the issue. Resetting everything doesn't clear out these mods data. Maybe try pulling it without doing that. Are you playing with ErrorTrap? It can stop the core from going belly up upon loading and may produce error messages during loading.
