2 errors

Post by natbsim75 » August 26th, 2017, 10:15 am

Hi there...
I uploaded 2 errors from my Lucky Palms save. I think that the only connection between them is that GoHere created both of them (and multiple others but they are identical).
The first one is about a boy from a premade family, the Gilberts. They are not my active family so when I was playing with my own family suddenly GoHere went crazy. I think I know what happened, the boy had routing problems to follow his father but the reason it kind of alarmed me was the pop-up notification saying: "Father Big Lemon" so I tried to find them to see how on earth the boy's father is a... Big Lemon! I found the boy outside a community lot and there was a Big Lemon parked across the street but I couldn't see if Mr. Gilbert was in the car... GoHere continued to spit the same error until I reset the boy and the crisis was over!

The second error is again one of many that started like a plague the moment I went back to my game. There are a lot of them and they are the same... They scare me a little because I have no idea what's going on and I can't figure out if they are about my active family or not.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice... Keep up the good work!!!

1 - I think something is getting lost in translation here. When a script refers to parent-child relationships, it means that one process or something happening with an object (the parent object or process) is acting over the second one (the child object or process). It's programming jargon and has nothing to do with genetic parents and children. That you are seeing it as "father" rather than "parent" I can see would be more confusing, but it doesn't mean a car gave birth to or is raising the child. :)

The real problem is that Joshua had an object stuck to his hand (that no longer existed?) at the time he was trying to route to school and GoHere balked at that. It's a pretty common error really, especially right after startup as is when this one seemed to take place and yes resetting the sim fixes that.

2 - Also very common, and yes this one will be persistent. You have ancient portals, meaning the LLAMA transport booths, in your world. GoHere hates those with a burning passion. The general recommendation is to get rid of all of the booths if one is using GoHere, any version. It only takes one in the world to get in the way, which is pretty silly since you can't route anywhere with only one booth, but the script log doesn't really tell us how many you have.

Hey there...

Thank you so much once more for your help :))) The funny thing is that I actualy hate the LLAMAs too and I'm used to delete all of them (even in Moonlight Falls!) because they seem to... hate each and every one of my sims. Every time a sim (active or inactive) tried to use them, they all came out toadified and I hated to have a whole world of toads running around, lol! At some point I read in another thread that GoHere "hates" them too and, believe it or not, it was a reason to like this mod even more :))
The one that caused the problem existed in the potion shop and I had probably forgotten to delete it. The save I'm playing is only 3 weeks old but I hadn't played it for ages because it's one of the very few saves I have that I had decided I didn't want to use any cheats so my family is really poor, living in a tiny house and it's kind of boring for me...
Anyways, thanks again...

PS: That script error is huge and really scary... Can't someone of you change the "message" and make it say something like "Delete the LLAMA, you idiot"??? lol!!!

I know you weren't being entirely serious, but the actual error (in #2) is a stack overflow. That means GoHere is encountering loops of routines to run to an extent that it just can't and gives up, that's why the error is so long and messy. The ancient portal (LLAMA) information is inside of all of that, so although the cause it's not an actual LLAMA error.

But yes, if GoHere cannot be fixed to take LLAMAs into account for routing, then perhaps it could be programmed to detect them separately and warn the player somehow.

@igazor

Yes, I wasn't entirely serious but it came out of my relief that it was just the stupid LLAMA and nothing else more serious :)) Thank you for the explanation.

And a question: I think that something is broken at the potion shop because when I went inside to delete the stupid LLAMA there wasn't a sim working there and when I clicked the register all that it gave was a grayed out "Browse" command and the NRAAS menu had only DebugEnabler and no Register to hire another sim to work the register... Do I have to buldoze the lot and put another one down???

That's odd. But I would suggest replacing the register in Build/Buy before replacing the entire lot.
