Lagginess & Forgotten Obligations

Post by ladybarefeet » August 17th, 2018, 9:07 pm

My game is running good overall, with the exception of a couple things:

-Spouses keep forgetting they're married- the relationships just drop off & they become "old friends". Blood lines are still showing, like son, daughter, mom, dad etc.
-A bit of freezing now n then. Not too bad. often a stuck sim but then theres a couple funky errors coming through.

I've uploaded 2 compressed files, covers a couple days of misc error scripts. Please let me know if anything in there is linked to the sudden amnesia... this is really inconvenient for marriages in my town.

On the Aug 6 batch:

-- Two sims errored out just as the game session was starting up. One was trying to give a massage on the Zen massage table. One was involved in a conversation with another sim. It is not uncommon for actions that cannot begin in one game session and continue in the next one to error out like these did.
-- A tourist sim threw a custom idle animation error when they were ordered by the game to go home
-- A couple of your sims errored out repeatedly while one was watching television and the other was riding on a ferris wheel. This is the repeated error:
System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required.
#0: 0x00003 ldfld.o in Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Misc.Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Misc.FrontStageKit:GetOwner () ()

Have no idea what that means, but it sounds related to a Showtime venue.

An active sim named Masao Hamada was directed to finish working their shift in the Culinary career, cry (how can "cry" be a user-directed action?), and then go home (autonomously). The command stack heap overflowed with too many behind the scenes pending actions. Looks like SP was the culprit, but I have to suspect whatever mod allows you to make sims cry as well. This is not serious if it doesn't keep happening continuously.

-- More Ferris Wheel (coincidental)/FrontStageKit:GetOwner errors on Benny Balliet. Can't really say what these are, would have to ask what the sim was really doing or directed to do but this was 11 real time days ago.
-- A boat routing error on Joel Vidal, who was trying to visit Balliet Island
-- Brendon Bowen, who is unemployed (?), was unable to use a spiral staircase to route while engaged in a Zerbu career activity
-- Another stack overflow error on Masao Hamada while at work

I don't see anything related to matrimonial amnesia yet, have to take a break before looking at the next batch though.

Round Two.

-- Another idle animation error on a tourist
-- Repeated Selector errors on a video game system that a child, Zeplan Odin, is trying to play. I would replace the video game system if this keeps happening or you may have a mod from another source that is interfering with it.
-- A boat routing error on Lucy Wolf, who is trying to use a speedboat to go home (autonomously)
-- An athletic workout animation error on Emily Hamada, who is trying to play basketball
-- More routine, non-error logs and some GoHere routing errors

Back on the amnesia thing, when the friendly relationship between two partnered sims falls below a certain level, the partnership will possibly dissolve on its own. The threshold for that is really low though, at -90. Anything lower than that and these two sims have caught one another cheating or they just really hate each other's guts. Have you changed the threshold setting?
NRaas > SP > General Options > Options:Romance > Maximum Relationship to Force Breakup

I imagine though that these relationships can just melt away at not quite so dire bad interpersonal levels without a formal breakup taking place. So how do these sims really feel about each other, from what you can tell?

Well, they never went into the red with their relationship though. I never leave this household alone long enough for them to have any falling outs.

It took me awhile to rack up enough errors to possibly give us a clue as to what all is going on. The random dissolution of marriages is so bizarre.

With the front stage kit error, I recall getting a message that my sim was irresponsible and left their stage kit behind and that it was placed back in the sims inventory.

Ferris Wheel has not been ridden as a user direction yet, they get on it autonomously.

And you've got me puzzled on the crying chef too. He works at a business as unusual oven... I guess maybe he doesn't like that job. That's too bad :p

Thanks for having a look see. I hoped there was some tell tale clue in there as to what is causing that. Its strange too that the household members randomly forget each others traits. I literally sat them all down at the fire pit and made them get to know each others traits again, then a few days later they forgot them. And it began to take forever for them to uncover new traits of each others too. They sat on 3 traits forever, even though they're all observant.
/sigh

The only times I have ever seen sims forget traits they have already learned are when world travel is in play, the traits themselves have changed (by the player, through the Unstable trait, or other in-game mechanisms), or body-snatching doppelgangers have appeared.

Strange.

"Hi Honey, I'm home!"
"Hi...okay, who the heck are you and what have you done with my real husband?"
