igazor: Really? I've had sims show up in my town that I was sure spawned from my bin. This is actually something I've been trying to figure out for years. The configuration option says "bin," but it turns out that if you search around Sims forums, there isn't a lot of consensus on what that terminology is.

A lot of those bin sims are also in various households in my household library, so it's probably been difficult to tell, but there are sims I loaded into my bin thinking that they'd be used for immigration that probably weren't. If you're sure, I'll put them ALL into households then.

Well, since I've been playing with bin immigration off in my real game, not so much the testing ones, for reasons as described earlier on in this thread (just personal preference), let's say I'm pretty sure? Now watch tomorrow I'll load up a test game and for the first time it will be full of igazor sims and a few other sim bin creations not represented in the Household Bin at all after calling up some Rapid Immigration. But this hasn't happened yet. :)

brappl: Most of my sims are downloads from MTS. I have an older Michael Jackson from MTS, but also a younger one (Thriller or even younger) that I found someplace on the Internet and might not be able to find again. There are a lot of great sims on MTS -- it's curated for pretty good likenesses. Tom Cruise is also MTS, and most of the non-celebrity sims I have.

I have a truly fabulous Buffy family -- Buffy, Dawn, Angel, and Spike. Really good likenesses and really good personality traits. I've loaded them into several games just to see what StoryProgression does with them. I even posted where to find them all on my blog at some point. I'll see if I can find those links and if they're still active. Spike was actually a download from the Exchange, which is usually so noisy I can't find anything.

Snape and Cullen were just sims I stumbled across while following some chain of links from someone else's sims blog. Whenever I see a celebrity sim who I can recognize without a caption, I download it.

I would love links to your GoT sims!

Igazor: Haha. Right, which is why I have left a bunch of sims in my household bin, just in case...

If Chain can determine what that code actually does, it might be worth updating the docco to clear things up.

MTS has awesome sims. I do download a lot from there so will take another look there. The GOT sims are by Kurasoberina. They are/were here. She has a post over at MTS somewhere advising she took them down to make updates and it's been some time. Here are pics of them: http://kurasoberina.tumblr.com/tagged/game-of-thrones. I can't do it tonight but I'll upload the sims to Mediafire. I don't have them all in my game atm so will look in my external files.

From the FAQ pages on SP Immigration (emphasis mine):

Sims immigrated by StoryProgression are created by using the genetics of sims in your Sim Bin, or from sims who already reside in your town.
The "Lots \ Chance of Bin Offspring" option defines how often a sim from your Edit Town Library (the bin that stores all your exported sim families) will be used as a genetic parent.
The "Lots \ Chance of Random Offspring" option defines how often the EA sim generator is used to produce a genetic parent.
When those two fail to produce a result, a sim in your town is chosen as the genetic parent.

Once two sims have been chosen, their genetics are mixed to produce an offspring that is then immigrated into town. There is no family linkage between this new sim and it's "parents" other than its genetic heritage.

It does appear to be contradicting itself, doesn't it. Subject to Chain's confirmation, I think the phrase "Sim Bin" in the beginning needs to be replaced with something else.

Those quotes do make it sound like "sim bin" was used for household library. OTOH, I have been pretty sure both ways at various points and something happened to change my mind.

Some clarity on what "Sim Bin" means would be useful, I agree, and should definitely be added to the SP documentation.

@Echoweaver

Thanks for the sim number advice. I've made a dozen, split into 2 households as not to clutter up the Edit Town UI. I hope that's close enough to 15 to work.

It is the household bin found in edit town - not the CAS sim bin.

This is what I always thought, thanks for the confirmation. The FAQ has been updated accordingly.
