Chatterbox Route fail problems when sim trying to eat at table

I have the latest version of the mod and do not have the original EA versions of the 'call to meal' interaction. I was just testing out the different interactions in my game. The mod's version of the 'call to meal' interaction lists all sims on the lot; I'm pretty sure that's not EA. And now I remember using that option on dates on community lots when I wanted my sim and the date to eat together. I'm not familiar with the 'call to group/household/guests' shortcuts because I haven't used them. The group and guest options didn't show up for me for morning breakfast, but then I haven't had a guest or group on the home lot at the time.

Okay, tell you what. I'm willing to admit that all this time I may mistaken his shortcuts for Call Household, Groups, etc. to Meals for the original EA interactions. Sorry about that. Icarus does say that he replaced the standard interactions with his. Although I could have sworn I had seen both available in some circumstances, EA's being the ones that did not display the number of servings remaining.
The rest is just not happening for most users, and of course you can't call a guest or a group to a meal if you don't have a guest or a group to call. For changing the number of servings per platter, I would suggest Icarus' Cook With Any Ingredient mod for players who might like its other features and can work with all of the additional prompts it requires. His own mods will not conflict with each other.
@yuk75 - If you want, you could try a test run with all mods removed except this one and NRaas just to see if things behave differently for you that way. But other than that, these complaints are not common.
Let's let the OP try it out if they like and make their own determination. For most of us, especially but not limited to those of us who have very large families, groups, and dinner parties whom we want to sit down and dine together on a regular basis rather than keep having to stand in line to get a plate buffet style, the mod fixes a heck of lot more than it breaks.

^ What Trey said
I have a more servings per meal mod. I just don't want to know how many will be left it's distracting. As Trey said it tries to serve the whole lot, I have 18 meals and 30 sims over it just keeps serving and serving.
I wouldn't care about the issues if it just let me have my call to meal interactions lol.

Maybe the shortcuts do that, but that isn't how the mod is intended to work. We are presented with a list of all sims on the lot. We select the ones to whom we want to serve a meal, it does not have to be everyone on the lot. In fact, it can be one sim (although in that case we can just bring them a plate of food and the mod wouldn't be required). If you have 30 sims on the lot and select 4 of them, then the table will be set for 4 sims and the leftovers will be placed in the center of the table (if there is room) in case anyone requires another helping or shows up later to grab some food.
But I will agree based on what is being said here, no the mod is not for you as it does not meet your needs.

@yuk75, that's not what I said. In my game the 'call to meal' interaction LISTS all the sims on the lot, but my sim only serves the number of sims I select on the list. I have never seen my sim 'serving and serving' meals. I don't have a mod that adjusts the number of servings per group meal. I use Retuner to change the default value to 12, and then use icarus' Cook With Any Ingredient mod to set the number of servings (up to 24) on a meal by meal basis. And, as I said before, I haven't used the household/group/guest shortcuts so can't say how those work in my game.

Okay, this thread has stayed open in case the OP returned with any follow-up questions or comments. As they are happy with the proposed solution, I don't see the point in keeping it open any longer because we seem to be going in circles. If a player doesn't like the mod as it doesn't fit within their play style, that's fine. Then they shouldn't use it.
Perhaps some day icarus will return to his mods at MTS to address the recent comments and consider adding to its features to take more expansive usage into account.
