Question about uninstalling stuff packs through Steam

Post by littlelambsy » February 18th, 2018, 2:09 pm

I've discovered I really don't like some of the theme packs I installed through steam and want to uninstall them. I googled it but it said that although it can be donen it can cause error problems. Has anyone uninstalled anything through steam and is there a way to do it? I'm finding all the clothing and hairs that come with some packs are really loading up my CAS and it takes forever to load stuff that I would never use.

To uninstall something with Steam I launch the Steam client, go to my Library, right click on the game, and choose Uninstall. To uninstall specific DLC (like TS3 packs): right click on the game in your Library, choose Properties. In the Properties window that pops up click on the DLC tab, and I think all you have to do is uncheck the DLC you don't want installed. Steam should automatically update your game files from what I remember.

I have no idea if uninstalling TS3 packs would cause error problems. I didn't have any stuff packs when I played TS3 on Steam.

Isn't there a setting in MC/CAS to hide items by pack? Are Stuff Packs not listed there?

Thanks Trey, I didn't look in MC/CAS I know it can be done with dresser but when I read all the things dresser does, it confuses me. I thought uninstalling a stuff pack (not an EP) would be much easier than doing a blacklist.

LL Hello - if you have not found it yet you can hide the SPs in MC>Settings>Hide By Pack
If you are on 1.67 it's easy, albeit tedious, to blacklist with EasyCASP Editor.

Thanks brappl if I can do it in MC that would help a lot. :) I can't use ECE unfortunately, because I'm on Steam and it doesn't work with Steam. I've decided to start a new sims 3 folder and before I start playing my new setup world, I'm going to get my game cleaned up. First to go are these stuff packs! :)

I uninstalled all my stuff packs long ago. Too much of the same ole same ole. I spent a lot of time blacklisting with EasyCASP but after a time ended up hiding 7 EP's using MC. There were still so many duplicate items and things like boots assigned for swimwear. There are a few items I liked but found so much great CC that made it all worthwhile.

I agree, "out of sight out of mind" once I hide a bunch of stuff, then I'll forget what was there and it won't bother me. And as you say, lots of great cc to make up for it. :) When you look at some of the outfits EA created, I don't know what they were thinking! They need to hire new designers LOL

There's likely an award of some kind to be had for the genius who figures out how to get EasyCASP to work with Steam installs. Many of us do miss it.
