Party over here! ... Or not.

Post by InsanityPrelude » February 15th, 2018, 9:27 pm

A couple times now in my Roaring Heights save, inactive Sims have invited my Sim to a party only to be out of the house when it's supposed to start. The "party is starting soon!" text/notification still come up, but the party map tag never appears, and "Visit [name] Household" is unavailable because nobody's home.

Both times, checking the AWOL host's status with MC showed they were at the bistro; I know one of them works in Culinary for sure, so is the game just generating parties without taking the host's work hours into account?

That happens all the time, that's why I never accept party invitations. You could click on the map tag of the house the party is suppose to be in and reset the lot, that will force all members home. But even then, usually there's no party happening. I hate it. So, when sims in the neighbourhood DO throw a party (one that my sim isn't invited to), one that you can see happening from map view, I just have him crash the party.

I'm sure I must have told this story here before. Ages ago after ignoring most of these bogus party invites myself, I took the proverbial bull by the horns. Made sure that the supposed hosts were not going to busy working by using MC > Status > Career on them. Loaded up my sims with great food to share (and a mod that allowed them to do so), musical instruments they knew how to play well, one of them had a finally tuned sense of humor and everyone loved hearing his jokes, some other portable fun giving objects, etc, took a deep breath, sent them on over. There really was a party going on though the other guests were just standing around staring at each other. With quite a bit of work on my part, my sims took control as best they could in someone else's backyard, and everyone started having a great time. Success?

And then...the sky suddenly got very dark. Everyone looked up instead of running away. I think you can guess what happened next, igazor experienced his first in-game meteor not on a deserted lot on the edge of town.

(waved white flag of surrender) Quit without saving, perhaps everyone would still have been talking about the party for years to come or whatever, but that one would have wiped out much of my ongoing main legacy household. Sometimes the game just wins, not the player. Ever since then if my sims want a good time at a party, they throw one themselves.

I have this happen frequently too. The last time a party host was absent (this was in university) I used MC's Go Home command to get the host home. Still, no one else attended the party apart from my sims and the whole thing was a bust.

When I first started playing TS3 years ago parties were always well attended and a great way for my sims to meet others. But at some point they became next to useless. No idea why.

The fates did not want you to have that party Igazor! It is frustrating, but, most of the time I click no to party invites. I still get a text or call from the party giver saying sorry you missed the party, even though they were working or at the park playing with my sim on the trampoline and didn't go either.

I have found a couple of things about parties.

1. If you don't show up exactly when the party starts, it's unlikely to go on without you. So don't expect to show up fashionably late because nobody will be there.

2. I have used TreyNutz's trick to send the party host home when I get the party warning.

3. I believe part of the problem is/was actually GoHere. I have found that it often interferes with base game pushes of inactive sims. I originally took it out of my game because I could not complete investigation quests as a P.I. because the inactives either never showed up or left immediately. I also found it to interfere with my active sims trick-or-treating.

This may be old news. I haven't been running with GoHere for quite a while.

I don't have GoHere installed, so it's not messing with my parties, at any rate. I'll try TreyNutz's trick if I *really* want a party to happen, thanks.

There are no issues with GoHere and those things that I'm aware of.
