Homeworld designation problem

Post by LessienVardamir » July 24th, 2017, 1:14 pm

Hi

Recently while being at university my game 'glitched' and somehow university became my homeworld. (I have traveler) I was somehow able to move them back (without their roommates), but now my homeworld only halfly acts as a homeworld.
When in edit town I only have the options ownable, non-player and apartment for residential lots. Regular just doesn't show up. When trying to edit another world the game prompts me to put a base camp in my homeworld as well.
In simology age does show up as normal though.
I tried 'fix homeworld' from debugenabler about 3 times, but it doesn't seem to work.
Any idea of what I can try next?

Aren't Regular and Non-Player the same things? Traveler is supposed to extend the three residential type lots to non-Uni homeworlds if Uni is installed. I don't usually try to edit other worlds through Edit Town that way, so can't say if the Basecamp prompt is normal or not but any world can have a Basecamp. Or not have one. Can you just dismiss the prompt?

It's good that aging is normal, but can your sims go to work/school? If so, things might be as they should be, maybe?

I don't think an active family can own a non-player lot, while regular is just a normal house. I can't dismiss the prompt. My sims can do everything the normal way, but I just noticed, since I wanted to go back to uni, that the lot they stayed on last time is completely unselectable in edit town mode as well. It doesn't have a lot tag, I can't interact with it at all, but when trying to place a lot it does say there is a lot in the way.
Could moving my family to another world and back solve the issue? And another question: does anyone know if anything can be done about an unselectable lot? Sorry for the questions, but I'ld like to avoid starting the town anew again.

I'm sorry, but I'm stubbornly not understanding the lot type issue. Active sims can only purchase and then move into lots when the player directs them to. So if we have to take an extra step and make that lot Player Ownable first, don't we end up in the same place in the end? Once the lot is owned and your actives live there (or do whatever you want them to do with it), then it shouldn't matter anymore. Or am I missing something else?

I don't know about starting anew, but it sounds like your instance of Uni World might be a bit damaged. Or at least that lot might be.

Hmm, is there a file I can remove so the game pretends I've never been to uni to create a new file upon restarting the game? (I've found that fix homeworld does temporarily solve the lot assignment issue. So I guess I can work around it with the ownable lot type. I thought since ownable lot normally means vacation house, I wouldn't be able to live there permanently)

Oh no, my active sims move into those as permanent residences all the time. Not sure if this is intentional or some sort of glitch, but I think those lots drop the special Ownable lot type if my sims were ever to move out again but while occupied they behave exactly the same.

The one you want to pull is, within that particular save, the Sims University nhd file. The next time your sims travel to Uni, it will spawn a new one. Note though that the inactive student sims will be exactly the same as they were the first time you played Uni. Which could be a little unsettling if you since brought some of them home with you and married them or they actually gave birth to the sim you are playing or something like that (as then they would exist as two different sims until you do something about it).
