Service Sims

Post by Calista_Drake » July 20th, 2017, 10:55 am

I've made my own NPC's for my CAW worlds, consisting of 10 households of 8 sims each. I just placed them in a starter save for one of my worlds. I assigned the most common service positions, then evicted the rest of the sims with MC. I have Register set to allow immigration and disallow resident assignment. With those settings, will the game use my own NPC's for service positions I did not assign myself, or only for the role positions?

Um as far as I know, the immigration option in Register is only for role sims, or perhaps I'm wrong. The game will create service sims if all the available ones are already on the job then it will get rid of them immediately. E.g. if you only assign one mail delivery, the game will likely create another one for other lots if he/she is already assigned to deliver a package to your active lot.

I made those sims to fill both role and service positions, mainly so I don't end up will all the NPC's in my towns looking alike. So if the game won't use the unassigned homeless sims to fill the rest of the service positions, I assign them myself.

Um I'm not really sure if one sim can do both as service and role, because if they are assigned as roles, they end up losing their service careers, or perhaps I'm wrong. But again the game will likely to create another service sim if one is currently busy.

Also I'm not really sure if an inactive household can be service sims, because I once moved in a mail career as a resident and he ended up unemployed.

I said I made the sims (plural) to fill both role and service positions. I meant that collectively, not individually. I don't want the game generating new sims for service roles until such time as all of the homeless sims I made are already assigned.

These are not residents. I evicted them. They are homeless.

Oh I do apologize for misunderstanding. In that case it might work, but not sure if you assign them both as services and roles since they fall into different categories

You're going to have to assign them to the services yourself. The game doesn't use homeless as service Sims and no they can't have a role and service position at once. It also won't use the homeless as role Sims if you have SP or OW set to delete them obviously otherwise it will.

I suppose I confused the issue further when I said "service roles." I meant service positions. I was using the word "role" as it generally means within the English language, not as it means in the game. Anyway, I have all the service positions filled now, and am going to leave the roles for Register to assign.

I do not have SP or OW delete homeless sims. I played for a long time before I started using mods, and got used to seeing the pre-made homeless sims in Sunset Valley, who often ended up moving into town. My first ever sim to marry in the game actually married a former homeless sim that had moved into town. I didn't like it one bit when they all disappeared after I started using SP. So I found out how to prevent that, and never allow SP to manage the homeless anymore.

So I'm all good now, and I thank you both for taking the time to answer my question.
