Recognizing the graphics card.

Post by johannshah » July 19th, 2017, 2:18 pm

Hello.
My friend just purchased a new graphics card today. She wanted me to help recognize it. Should I follow this guide
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum ... ic=26753.0
Or this one

Neither. I would recommend this one (starting at post #11)

But it's far more important to cap the card's frame rate and verify in-game that it's staying under the refresh rate of their monitor. What model card is it?

I'm really sorry, she's on the phone right now with her girlfriend so I don't have a right to tell without her permission, but thanks a lot. The link you gave is actually the same Nitromon with the one I got. So I'm going with Nitromon's idea. Once again thank you :)

Then I have no way to tell you which recognizeable profile from the sgr file to use. It won't necessarily be the same one Nitromon is using in that particular example.

I've just asked her, it's Sapphire Radeon RX 460. I've just done what Nitromon posted and her Sims 3 is now recognizing the card. I've also turned on the VSync and triple buffering and managed to reconfigure the in game settings, and the game is tied up to 60fps :)

So...did you use the profile for "AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series"? I don't have an sgr file in front of me right now, but I think that's the strongest they go on the pre-recognized AMD cards. I would hate to see a card so powerful throttled into a lower-ranking profile (not that it would make tremendous amounts of difference really, but the default Game Options settings might otherwise be strange). Good job on getting the fps locked in, that card would run wild otherwise.

Oh yes I did the most upper one. Changed its device ID with hers. I didn't need to mess with the graphicsrules since the texture memory isn't 32 overridden. Thanks a lot once again.
