Prevent Any Sims from Moving in to Certain Homes.

Post by johannshah » July 15th, 2017, 5:00 pm

Hello.
I'd like to make several certain homes which residents are unable to move in to, e.g. I don't want any sims to randomly move in to Ye Olde Tudor because I'd like to remain it empty. Can I do that with StoryProgression?

On the lot in question, NRaas > SP > Lot Options > Allow Lot for Progression > False.

But another way, and there's nothing wrong with dong both, is to pull out the refrigerator. Inactives will never move into a lot that doesn't have one unless forced to do so by player commands.

Will add that the EA way is to mark the lot as Residential - (Player) Ownable from within Edit Town. But sometimes those designations don't seem to stick.

Got it! Already set Allow Lot for Progression to False. Oh one more question, I saw the other options such as Caste: Disallow, Manual and Require, what do they do?

Under the Lot Options menu?

Caste Disallow - Prevents sims from being pushed to the lot. If any show up regardless, chances are they will leave relatively quickly.
Caste Require - Opposite of the above. Only sims belonging to those castes will be pushed to use the lot.

These aren't brick walls, sometimes sims will show up where they shouldn't, but they tend to not hang around very long.

We usually use these for community lots, not residences. So an abandoned warehouse can, for example, be a teen only hangout. Children and sims carrying toddlers and babies won't be pushed to nightclubs. Schools can be set up as High Schools, Elementary, gender or net worth specific, etc. If we use them on residences and inactives who don't have the correct caste memberships end up living there, they will be pushed to move out if they can. So maybe you want an Elder Only or This is For Rich People section of housing, No (or Only) Clumsy People Are Allowed to Live Here, something like that.

Caste Manual: This actually puts the sims who are on the lot into the caste specified (it cannot be an Automatic Caste with criteria, it must be a Manual one already) for as long as they remain on the lot. I never use this one, it's very different from the Caste:Manual command one would see on Sim Options as are the other two already described.

Note that some version of GoHere must be in place for any of these three options to function as intended.
