Too many Spring-Autumn romances...

Post by jjonewell » July 5th, 2017, 10:30 pm

I have a lot of YA/Elder romances in my game, which is fine (I mean, hey, no judgement), but I'd rather, well, not. Is there a way to slow this phenomenon down or stop it altogether?

Are they hooking up after a Sim becomes an elder, or are they together before the Sim ages up? If they don't get together until After the Sim is already an elder, you can stop it. I've stopped it in my game. In Story Progression, under castes, choose the Elders and change Allow Romance to False.

But then Elders wouldn't be able to Romance each other, either. I would suggest
SP > Caste Options > Elders > Romance:Disallow Partner Caste > (and select the ones to be disallowed)
SP > Caste Options > YA > Romance:Disallow Partner Caste > (and select Elders)

I realize this stops the partnerships from forming, rather than slowing it down, but maybe in this world you have enough of them already?

@igazor, You're right. I wasn't thinking clearly (no big surprise, lol) I must have set mine up the way you've just described (it's been a long time ago) because my elders still romance other elders.

I stopped it because the children of a Elder male/YA female pairing were born with gray hair so over the generations the entire town would eventually all have gray hair. Elder gray hair is passed on as a trait for some strange reason.

Born with gray hair? Do you have a mod that affects hair color? This has never happened to me. When kids of my Elders inherit their hair, it's always the original hair color.

I'd love to reduce the probability of Sprint/Autumn romances myself, but I've been unwilling to turn them off. Maybe I'll turn them off and back on again at intervals. :).

I have to agree with Echoweaver you must have mod that is causing that as I've seen kids born with an Elder parent inherit the Elder grey hair either even with the vanilla game. I've had some born with the whitish looking hair found in CAS but heir parents weren't elders
