Weird Crash

Post by johannshah » March 8th, 2017, 1:49 am

Hello.
I had a sudden crash while I was having my sim watch a simfest. TS3CLA told it was caused by custom content. I started the game again to check which mod and cc and apparently The Whitfields moved twice on the same day. So here's the story: Jamar Whitfield got married to Matias Singh. Instead of asking Matias to move in to his house. They decided to buy a new house which was way too cheaper and smaller. And on the same day, they all moved in back to Jamar's old house. It sounds weird and I'm not really sure why. Upon restarting the game, the tag was still left on their previous house after moving in back to Jamar's old house.

Hi johannshah - I doubt the Whitfields moving twice in one day caused your crash.

When you restarted your game did you go completely out of the game or restart from the Main Menu?

Have you tried running your Mods folder through Delphy's Dashboard. Although not always a 100% solution it might point to something in your Mods folder causing the crash.

Were any script errors generated? If yes zip into one folder and upload. See <a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/How+To+Upload">How To Upload</a>.

lmao I doubt that too, that's why I called it weird. But it is actually kinda weird. In StoryProgression option, cooldown between moves is set to 5 (by default and I never touch it) so why did the Whitfields move in twice on the same day?

I've checked all my mods and CC packages through Delphy's Dashboard but there's no error sign. And there's also a script error but it is about correction logs, should I upload it too?

Also I am using the Starlight Shores fix by Ellacharmed but it is causing random lags very often, even worse than the default Bridgeport. Is it the one that made my game crash out of the blue?

In case this helps at all, I've seen sims move more times in rapid succession and don't think in itself it's a sign of anything wrong. The cooldown setting should prevent SP's Household Manager from pushing a move just for the sake of moving, to be with new friends as "housemates," and for other slightly more frivolous reasons. But if the sims find themselves in a home that subsequently fails to meet inspection when SP's Lot Manager runs, the cooldown won't necessarily be honored. I've also seen the Broken Home scenario fire almost immediately after a move if a sim passionately hates someone they are now living with, thus triggering another kind of move even if that's not really supposed to happen. There's probably other situations that can make a move take place in spite of the cooldown that I'm not thinking of at the moment.

When I see sims moving houses erratically like that, I generally put them where I think they should be living with MC > Add Sim and forbid them from moving at all, Solo or Household, with Sim/Household Options settings. But if there are any kids or teens in the household, I have to remember to change that later or they will never be allowed to leave home when they grow up.

Starlight Shores is known to have routing issues. GoHere can help if you don't already have that one. But we usually hear more about lag and routing failures than outright crashes.

I'm really sorry to say this after the effort that's been put into it, but much of the time what CLA reports doesn't make any sense or is not helpful.

I would be quicker to blame something unexpected going on at the Simfest, but it seems odd that ErrorTrap would remain silent about it.

Talking about Simfest, I've got script error from ErrorTrap and I think it's about some performance show. I've already uploaded it to Recent Changes. If that did what made my game crash, then it is really weird that ErrorTrap remained silent.

System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required.
#0: 0x0001b callvirt in Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Seating.Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Seating.MultiSeatObject:RouteToForSitting

Three inactive sims (at least) erroring out attempting to route to seating when the autonomous directive is "Watch the Show." That sounds annoying, maybe there is something wrong with the seating choices in the area or they all tried to route to the same exact spot or it suddenly wasn't there or available to them, but not sure why this would crash the game.

I've seen sims move around alot largely because their career demanded something like a Painting Easel etc... and SP was moving them around until it found a house that had what they needed.

Sorry I've just had time to reply

@igazor: eh, all the big show venues actually have a show bench floor with a bench on it, but sometimes it appears, sometimes it doesn't. I didn't send my sim there to watch the show so I had no idea whether the bench did appear or not. When you talked about simfest. I've noticed things gone wrong during simfest in Starlight Shores, like inactives went home when they were supposed to perform, missing outfits, proprietors didn't stay stand on the marks. I think the crash related to one of the performers but dunno which one.

@sittingbear: umm I only assign inactives as writers since writers only need computers and laptops (which can be bought to their inventories). In my game, it's always rich sims that tend to move multiple times.

The Forensic Branch of the Law Enforcement Career requires the Painting skill to advance and if you allow the Stylist Career they too need either an easel to advance to up to level 5 or a drafting table to be able to go to level 10. Skill objects aren't limited to just the self-employed careers and not all RH careers have the work/skill tones to improve required skills so they'll look around for the skill objects.

Oh well, I wouldn't worry about the forensic branch career since every world I play, only one sim that is interested in it (e.g. I set 4 inactives assign to Law Enforcement in Sunset Valley and Riverview, and only Hank Goddard and Hal Breckenridge were interested in Forensic Branch, moreover no sims liked to pick Forensic Branch in Bridgeport, Roaring Heights, Starlight Shores and Appaloosa Plains). For Stylist Career, lmao it's worthless since there's already a homeless sim xx :)
