Script Errors and disappearing sims after adding sim with Master Controller

Post by Kallaste » March 1st, 2017, 11:17 pm

Hi all, this is my first post. I recently installed Master Controller in order to add my neighbor's cat to my household. I really like that cat and wanted him to be a part of my family, and there didn't seem to be a way to do it in game (I had him as a house guest and got my relationship bar all the way up with him, but there was no option to ask him to move in, so I guess pets can't decide to change families).

Anyway, I am running Master Controller, MC Integration, Overwatch, Error Trap, Once Read, and Ani's No Fridge Shop. I have never had an issue prior to this.

So, I have tried several times with several different menu options to add this cat to my household (will be glad to provide more detail if necessary), but each time, the same problem occurs. What happens is that even though I can successfully add him to my household using Master Controller, he disappears immediately after I reload the game. So I can play with him and all goes well until I save and exit, and when I reload, I get a script error from Error trap and he's gone. The script logs record a null pointer exception.

This happens regardless of whether I continue to play the game for one game minute or one day; I can save and everything looks fine, but as soon as I reload, the errors appear. Simetimes other sims disappear as well: once it was a member of my active family, and another time it was Param Singh, a minor character for me. But the cat is always gone. Given the null pointer exception, my intuition is that he was never added properly for some reason. Or maybe overwatch is removing him? I have however played through several overwatch cycles before exiting and reloading to see if that was the problem, and the cat always stays put until I exit and reload the save.

I have my script files and would like to upload them, but I don't see an option to upload files. Any advice? I go ahead and post this and see if there is an edit option afterwards . . . sorry. If I should just copy and paste, please let me know.

One script error (there are four from the last attempt):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<NRaas.ErrorTrap>
<ModVersion value="100"/>
<BuildVersion value="0.2.0.209"/>
<Installed value="CurrentTip"/>
<Enumerator value="6"/>

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas. In the future, please zip your script errors together and upload them using these instructions instead of pasting them into forum posts. They are very difficult to work with this way and often some key information or other gets lost in the process.
<a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/How+To+Uplo ... +Upload</a>

The cat appears to be part of the Craven household at the time these errors occurred (is that the right one or did you intend another?) The errors are throwing because (a) the game is trying to issue a cell phone to the cat and (b) the cat is a guest of a party that an inactive household is apparently trying to have. Of course, these don't make any sense for a cat. Which command did you use to shift the cat from one household to another?

The in-game way would be to make friends with the cat's owner, not the cat themselves, and Ask to Adopt Pet as a social interaction. It's a bit fussy to get that one to appear when one really wants it, though. The other way is to split the other household in Edit Town and add the cat to your own household.

The MC way is with MC > Add Sim on the cat. Should, in an otherwise perfect world, happen instantly with no fuss.

I'm afraid that the critter is a corrupt sim if the game is really trying to give them a phone and treat them as an inactive party guest. Before trying anything else, I would suggest a MC Reset on the cat. NRaas > MC > (Sim) > Advanced > Reset Sim.

The error on Param Singh is caused by an outdated version of icarus_allsorts' Eat Outside mod. You would want to either download the current version of that one or remove it and clear your TS3 user game folder's scriptCache.package file to see if that helps stop it. If you have any other mods from non-NRaas sources, this would also be a good time to make sure you have up to date versions of each one in play.

This is one of those EA errors that twallan and myself tried to resolve but the game barks at any logical resolution. Was your active household recently invited to an inactive party? Or maybe the cats previous household was. Either way the cat has party listeners attached to it that are pointing to the wrong household. I want to say I resolved this for a previous user by having them move the whole family to a new lot and then back to their old if desired. I think that worked if memory serves. Do that after the cat is added to the household.

The second error is actually just an EA routing error and can be ignored.
