A Novice Trickster?

Post by brappl » July 18th, 2016, 3:35 pm

I just noticed a sim in my game I have not seen before. She is not a Service or Role Sim and here tag color is that of a human resident. Her tag gives her information okay but her job is: "Novice Trickster". Her status in MC shows her as a member of the Skelton household with three other sims with different names. I tried to use MC to make her active and nothing happened. Then I used MC focus to try to find the others in the household and there was only one sim and that one was a Grad student. The others are not showing up anywhere. I tried to make the other household member active and no dice with that either. I was able to find out they are both Homeless and that is because I had Homeless allowed to get jobs in SP. Here is my questions though:
What is a Novice Trickster?
Why can't I make them active?

What you have there is a homeless Showtime performer. You can't make homeless sims active. Novice Trickster is Level 1 on the Magician career. :)

^Although I admit that job title sounds like something that could be on the Political career as well, I don't think it is. :)

Good one igazor, lol.
I did not think of Showtime as I thought I had that disabled for being available. I never tried to make a homeless sim active. I have had some of my resident sims adopt the paperboy/girls and guess I just assumed there were some options for homeless. I see now why though. Thank you :)

I've disallowed both the Showtime careers and the associated Showtime Career skills in most of my worlds and the homeless Showtime performers keep getting spawned anyway just at a very slow rate. Unless there are any I like the looks of (then I might give them housing in town), periodically I run them out by TAing them. I don't mind homeless sims in my worlds as has been discussed here before, but many of them don't need dozens of park performers hanging about either -- 1 or 2 in each career will do if there must be some. It's the game itself doing that spawnage as near as we can tell, not SP.

I have not played the Showtime careers for some time now. Also have the EP hidden in CAS. I went back in and changed the settings. Must have unset them when I was updating something else. Thanks again.

I have never been able to stop the homeless from getting those careers either but once as an experiment I allowed the skill associated with them even tho I had no Showtime Venues I was surprised that one actually got to level 10 in the Magician Career on just performing for tips. I gave that one house and made them resident I had to reward that kind of determination.

I'm certainly all for rewarding determination, but only the productive kind. I feel that if I left all of the homeless Showtime workers unchecked, the game would eventually spawn 60 of each of them and keep going (that's the non-productive kind I meant, on behalf of the game not the sims). I like to think it keeps doing that, though much more slowly with the careers and skills disallowed, because my game is otherwise running so well that it can't find anything more important to worry about. Just a fantasy I guess, but a fun one. :)

Finally remembered who it was it was Doug Downy from Twinbrook the most interesting part was after I made him a resident he went on to be a Superstar Athlete in the Sports Career.
I think the most I've seen at one time was 6 in each of the Showtime careers a total of 18 but that's too many if it wasn't for the Genie's I would've kept Showtime uninstalled
