Sims face goes strange when in naked outfit

Post by kimlupai » June 11th, 2016, 6:51 pm

I'm playing a homeless challenge with a teen sim that I created in CAS. When she was showering at the local community centre I noticed that her face was peculiar while she showered.
http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o61 ... is48ye.jpg

Her face is fine when she's in her other outfits. <a class="wiki_link_ext" href="http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o61 ... qg1hwv.jpg" rel="nofollow">http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o61 ... hwv.jpg</a>

I tried taking her into the stylist mode to change her hair style because I'd read about a glitch with some hairs conflicting with some skins. The hair she's using is from the store (according to the icon) and changing it didn't help. She's also using that hair with some of her other outfits and they aren't affected, as the pictures show.

While in stylist I checked her accessories but she's not wearing any.

I took her into edit in CAS using MC, there I tried changing her occult and skin tone. The weirdness carried over, when I swapped skin tones. Making her a vampire didn't change anything either.

In game I checked her occult status as I wondered if maybe she'd somehow got plumbot status. She hasn't, she is a plain human. No other occult.

Please can anyone help with suggestions as to what could have caused this and how to get rid of it?

@kimlupai .. I just deleted my own post to you. Let me try again, lol.
I have no idea on the why's but check out this post that over at The Mare's Nest..a couple of days ago. If no one in here can explain what's going on maybe go over to the Official Forum and see if someone over there has an explanation.

Did you check for accessories? It could be a glitched clothing item or make up that isn't showing right.

Most likely you have something in the Naked Outfit Category, either accessories / make up / facial paint / eyebrows / face tattoo that missing some textures and the face becomes glitchy (face composited).

Try taking her in CAS in her Naked Outfit Category (if you don't have a button in CAS, CMar provides one):
- Click on Sim> NRaas> MC> Basic> Outfit> list, pick Naked
- Click on Sim> NRaas> MC> Advanced> Edit In CAS

Try changing all the items (if customs are used) in the Naked Category, too Base Game items or X for nothing in those area's I mentioned above. See if that fixes it on that Sim.

You may also want to try to set the Sim Details in your in-game Graphical Options to lower or higher, than what it already is set to see if some of the customs you're using needs it to be:
A: Can't display properly due to GPU is too high sim detail, whereas the custom was made for low sim detail
B: Can't display properly due to GPU is too low sim detail, whereas the custom was made for high sim detail

With B it wouldn't display it like that, it would be more like a blurr of what it intended too be.

Though this is by no means a remedy to what you currently are experiencing. Some of the CC I have seen are classified to be worn in all Categories and are flagged as "Valid For Random", which basically means that it can be randomized to be worn by any Sim on age up in your Town and displaying the same facial glitch.

You could fix them up whenever you found such Sim by taking it in CAS, but a remedy would be is pinpointing the CC that's causing it and removing it from your CC collection.

Thank you for the replies. Mandelyn I did check for accessories but she wasn't wearing any.

The post at the Mare's nest says that the glitch started when the sim's hair was changed. I do know that I had to change the hair on my sim, for naked outfit she was using a random hair so I changed it to the one she uses for sleep and swimming. To me that suggests it is something to do with the hair, but if that's true why would it only affect one outfit, not all of them? It also seems strange that it would happen now, the post at the Mare's Nest said that s/he was using base game hair and my sim is using store hair, so surely I should have seen this glitch in the past?

I'm still on patch 1.67 and haven't added any new CC in months, if not years. I tend to add mods not CC, but I haven't added any new mods in ages. I've updated NRaas mods and Icarus_Allsorts mods etc but that's it.

I did have a graphics card update this week, it seems unlikely but could that have anything to do with it?

Sorry J4Ks I was reading posts and writing my reply so I didn't see your reply come in. As far as I know the only custom thing she is using is a skin and I did try swapping to a different one, but the glitch carried over. As I use very little CC clothes, make up etc I might try taking it all out, starting up the game and seeing what happens.

No need to say sorry kimmie ;-)

On this:

Can you upload your DeviceConfig.log (zipped) onto our site (How To Upload)? You can locate it within your Sims 3 Userdirectory (Documents\EA\TS3 -folder).

I've just been going through some of my CC. I should probably just chuck the lot as I never use it, but it's always a case of - I'll keep that just in case. I'm fairly sure it's not a case of make up gone wrong. I do remember that in edit in CAS, I went through all make up categories and made sure they were all on the X icon for no make up. Therefore I've been throwing out most of the CC accessories just in case she was wearing something and I missed it.

I have uploaded my deviceconfig log, I generally keep all the options as EA recommend. The exceptions are the screen resolution and tree detail which go up to the highest level. I always shut down and restart the game once I change the tree detail, as the pop up recommends.

I've looked at your deviceconfig and all seems pretty well, thought maybe the texture memory would be off (on some cases I've seen that reset to 32MB <<OVERRIDE>> after an gpu driver update, but yours sticked too 4048MB). And since you are on a GTX 580, which is recognized by the game, you game should be able to handle Sim Details on High even highest settings (not much the trees or resolutions, I was concerned about).

So when you went through your CC, did your Sim displayed proper in your Naked Outfit or is she still showing a the default composite face (robotic mask). If it still is and you have ErrorTrap installed, upload some of your ScriptErrors you have in your Sims 3 userdirectory, even if it is a correction log, to see if the NRaas mods you have matches the versions compatibility.

I've looked up an old scripterror you've uploaded (March 6th) and I couldn't see any mismatches, if nothing has changed in your setup from then and when this started happening, I probably won't see anything else.

Last thing I can suggest is to, export the Sim in Sims3Pack (go into Edit Town), select the house shes living in (if she lives with others, just select her), then press the button to "share". It should make an export S3Pack in your Documents\EA\Sims 3\Export -folder. Just too see how she behaves on my system.

If the file is less then 1MB upload it onto our site, if its larger then 1MB use a hosting service such as mediafire / dropbox to share it with us providing a link in a post of its location.
