Selector Problem/University Life

Post by Alvaradoa1 » June 2nd, 2019, 6:47 pm

Hi guys! Long time Simmer and fan of all the mods of this site, first time posting.
So I have all the sims 3 EPs in my game and 1 stuff pack and just about all of Nraas' mods from MC to SP. I'm starting out a new family, where the future matriarch of the family has a green thumb. So of course I would like to make a garden for her. But upon buying everything possible, I discovered that I was unable to plant the Maui bean seeds. In fact, when I clicked on them in my sims inventory, no interactions came up. I transferred the bean to the inventories of my other sims, sold the beans and bought them back, transferred them to the family inventory, all to no avail. Soon after I discovered that everytime I clicked on the bean when it was on the ground in front of my sim, a Script Error from the Selector mod popped up with the Maui bean on it. Then I discovered that it wasn't just the Maui bean that was buggy, but all of the gardening plants that come with the University life. I'm in the process of repairing my game and deleting the cache and whatnot, but since that has rarwly solved my problems before, does anyone have any tips, suggestions or ideas? Thank you in advance!

Hi there.

If by Repairing the Game you mean the Origin function, yes that doesn't usually fix anything in the game itself. Unlike with TS4 and other EA games, the Repair function on TS3 merely realigns the install and the Origin/Launcher tie-in when necessary. It also tends to undo sgr file edits we go through to get modern graphics cards recognized. It doesn't have the capacity to fix EP content like coffee beans provided that the Uni EP is actually loading for you already.

Much like with ErrorTrap, we really need to see a sample or a few samples of these Selector logs to get an idea of what's going wrong there. Just knowing the mod is throwing errors doesn't really give us any info. If you could, please drag and drop some single ones of the script logs, the xml files whose names begin with ScriptError, so we can see what they say into a response on this thread. If the forum interface to drop xml files on it doesn't work for you, the next choice would be to zip them together, upload them to a third party file host, and provide a link here so we can get to them.

The drag and drop method didn't work, so as requested I've uploaded the script error file to my one drive. Here's the link:

Hmm. That's the right kind of file, but it's not from Selector. It's a log from DebugEnabler but I'm not familiar with that particular kind of log and am not sure what it's supposed to be telling us. It seems to be some kind of data dump on your sim and a Buzzberry herb. We will need our developer to explain what he sees when he next passes through. Do you have any others? The logs say which mod is responsible for creating them in the first couple of lines.

What I can see though is that Cassandra, your active sim, has some questionable traits. One is the hidden Future Sim trait, which sims outside of Oasis Landing should not have. I would suggest removing it with MC. She also has three traits that are not defined. Have you recently (or ever, within the history of this ongoing game) removed a mod from another source that provides custom traits? There aren't many in popular usage that do, the usual suspects would be AwesomeMod, SimsMX's Hypochondriasis, Arsil's Japanese culture mod, and a very adult one with the initials KW. If the answer is no, certainly not to all of these then don't dwell on it too much until our developer says whether these undefined entries look worrisome to him.

I believe she has the future sim trait because I purchased her the Future Sim lifetime reward, and I believe that the 3 undefined traits come from the Advanced Art training that she completed which allows her to paint brilliant paintings, masterpieces, and paintings from every level of the painting skill at will

I don't have any of the mods you listed, and here are two more script error files

Okay, am getting a more clear picture now. You have A LOT of mods in play, not that having so many is supposed to be an issue. But a couple of them might be troublesome. SimsMX's Hospital Overhaul mod is outdated and should not be used on current patch levels. He unfortunately dropped out after the 1.57 patch years ago and never returned to update his mods. While many of his are still fine, this one is known to break games that were kept current since then. I would strongly suggest removing it.

Though I'm not sure what in the world that would have to do with Uni harvestables being plantable or not, which is what Selector is currently having heartburn about.

Are you certain that all of your mods are the most up to date versions, especially those by icarus and Buzzler (TwoBTech)?

I suspect you have a mod from another source that is outdated or never took the Uni EP into account as per the repeated error on all different kinds of Uni EP harvestables below. Since none of the others listed, and that list wouldn't include tuning mods, are screaming out as an obvious culprit, I would suggest a test run of your save with all mods removed except for those from NRaas, with the scriptCache.package file in the top level of your TS3 user game folder in Documents cleared (deleted). If the problem instantly clears itself up, then you know that it was among what you just removed that was triggering it. If it does not, then we need to dig a bit deeper.

System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required.#0: 0x00014 ldfld.i8 in Sims3.Gameplay.ObjectComponents.Sims3.Gameplay.ObjectComponents.PlantableComponent:PlantInteractionOpportunityTest (Sims3.Gameplay.Actors.Sim,Sims3.Gameplay.Abstracts.GameObject) ([36A85800] [4C6F3B00] )

Hmmm... I'll take your advice about the Hospital Overhaul mod, and as for any conflicting with Uni, now that you mention it, I think I remember something about one of them mentioning something about disabling something for the forbidden fruits, so maybe that's it. I'll try that and see if it works.
On an unrelated note, would you happen to know anything about fixing custom content? I bought the dairy corral from the store but the cow is missing and since the cow is the only intractable part of that item it makes the whole item useless. Any advice?

On the newly mentioned issue, wait you have the store item but the cow is missing entirely? I mean, there is no cow object in Build/Buy, but she is supposed to be inside of the corral and will wander out of it occasionally to be interacted with. Are you certain where you have placed it that there is enough space around the object to maneuver?

If that's not it, I would suggest uninstalling the corral and trying again with a fresh download from the TS3 store. And if that doesn't do it, you may be having a ccmerged file issue, this is the small file within DCBackup alongside the clutter that can collect in there that makes store premium items work (or not). Sometimes the file just goes "bad," and sometimes players remove it by mistake. Nonamena offers a downloadable replacement for it, in case that helps. This isn't really about custom content (CC) though, usually when we refer to CC we mean that which has been produced by a player rather than EA.

Or, if you have your store items decrapified, that could be part of the problem.

the dairy corral is basically a small barn with two unusable cows inside and one cow that slowly walks around the area of the corral, which is what the sims are meant to interact with. But the cow is missing.
I do have decrapped downloads but the dairy corral actually is from the store. I will try replacing the CCmerged file, and uninstalling/reinstalling the item. And I know this forum isn't really meant for store content, just thought I'd see if you had any info that could help on this particular problem :)
