Manual Blacklisting Question: I don't have the scripterror file

Post by Lonerbum » February 20th, 2019, 9:10 am

Hi
I have been trying to get rid of an accessory in my game, but since EasyCASP editor is gone, I've heard Dresser is the only other thing that can help me. So I attempted the manual blacklisting method. I am stuck at step 2.2 because I don't have the scripterror file it mentioned. I attempted to do so by windowed mode the game & skip the step entirely & the item I wish to get rid is still in the game.
So, what did I do wrong?

Manual Blacklisting Question: I don't have the scripterror file

EasyCASP Editor isn't gone, but it does not function on Patch 1.69 or Steam installs. Is that why you cannot use it?

If right-clicking on a CAS part is not generating a script log as indicated, I have to ask if you are really in MC's version of CAS or EA's? The way to tell for sure is to right-click on the "..." button in the lower left corner that usually leads to Game Options, Save, Quit, etc. If you are in MC's version of CAS, you will get an MC options window popping up. If you are in EA's, then nothing will happen.

The way to get into MC CAS is through an MC command. If you have MC Integration, then that extends the MC version onto the other ways to enter CAS. The one place where it fails is if you jump into Create a Household (CAH) or CAS upon just having loaded up the game but before an active sim is selected to play and the game clock begins moving forward because before then the mods have not fully loaded. Could this be what is happening?

Manual Blacklisting Question: I don't have the scripterror file

Post by Lonerbum » February 21st, 2019, 7:17 am

Huh, I actually deleted the part where mention the state of my game.
My Sims 3 copy is a Digital copy from Origin. I cannot revert to the older version of the game, making me permanently stuck with 1.69 & forever barred from ever using EasyCASP Editor ever again.

With that out of the way. I access the CAS through Master Controller. For some reason, EA Standard CAS will not show the error message. The MC CAS is the only way. Because I did not receive the scripterror file, I skip the step 2.2 by typing down what is said on the script message itself. Does this forum supports screenshots? I could attempt to post them.

Since I am here now, a side question I'd like to ask. It also seems like Ignore Valid For Random option doesn't work. Dresser seems to enable every accessories previously deemed as Invalid For Random regardless. What can I do about it besides telling Dresser to remove all accessories & make ups every single time the game decided to generate a new sim? At least I should know how to contain the spread of this unwanted accessory piece at the very least.

Just gave it a try, I see a scripterror, but nothing about the CAS part. Mostly about recovering missing sims. I think it must be from Errortrap or Overwatch. So what now?

What happens next (hopefully) is that someone who actually uses Dresser and blacklisting steps in and helps. :)

So I'll just have to keep bumping this thread everyday? Well that sounds extremely spammy.

I would urge you not to do that because such would be against the rules and this thread would mysteriously go missing or get locked down.

If a few days pass with no response, then yes one bump would be acceptable. Not sure what else you would like. I don't use Dresser and don't plan to, so I cannot speak to the quirks of the mod or why things do not seem to be working quite as intended for you. I am sure there are other members better able to help.

I don't want to bump as well. I don't even wanted to use Dresser. If there is an EasyCASP Editor for 1.69 then I'm all ears. So far I don't even think Ignore Valid For Random actually works, a lot of stuff that is previously Invalid still shows up on the randomly-generated sims. I just want to blacklist 1 piece of accessory & it seems like there are so many things I have to do just to do it.

I'll try to keep the bump nice & simple. But I have a feeling it will be a very long time until that day comes.

Manual Blacklisting Question: I don't have the scripterror file

Wait a minute. Is this what the problem is? If so, I would say some important information was not provided on your post here.
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.p ... ost5500026

You said that you downloaded a mod from an unknown site. Did you really mean a mod, as in something that programmatically changes the game's behavior, or did you mean custom content? If you really meant that you downloaded a mod, again meaning a script or core mod and I'm not sure that's what you meant, that has changed the game's behavior and this is unwanted, then I would say the mod needs to go.

It sounds to me more like you have introduced "Bad" or "Rogue" CC, one or more misbehaving sims3pack-sourced CAS parts, into your game. I don't think a Dresser blacklist is ever going to solve that. If I were faced with that sort of thing, I would be doing my best to remove it entirely first by starting with Method by Mell to slowly and methodically use the Launcher (to the extent possible) to examine the contents of each dbc file in DCCache one at a time in hopes of eradicating the offending part(s), as well as the source if they came along for the ride with a downloaded sim, lot, custom world, or in some other packed up bundle of stuff and its corresponding files in DCBackup if I didn't already keep that clear of clutter.
https://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/01/t ... ntent.html

If that doesn't work out, then the next step would be to declare my dbc files a partial or total disaster area and remove the one that has the offending part(s) (if I can even figure out which one it is), or all of them if I can't even narrow it down, and then rebuild my content from the removed dbc files or all of it from the beginning.

Oh right, I'm sorry, I forgot about the Sims Community modding language, I kept calling everything a mod so I should've known you'll be confused. My problem is with 1 of the custom contents I have downloaded. It's not a third party software like a CC Magic or anything, it is a piece of accessory for use in CAS. it's a CAS Accessory, it's not a scripting software plugin or any of those sorts.

So that's what you called it, a rogue CC? I noticed them when I start downloading stuff from Chinese sites or Tumblr. For a while I thought it's some sort of a prank within this modding community & for the longest time I just use EasyCASPEditor to hid them from my game.

So let me rephrase the whole thing. I have a rogue CC in my game & I want to blacklist it or at least make it Invalid For Random so it won't show up on my game. I tried the manual blacklisting & I have to skip step 2.2 because I didn't receive the scripterror which contains the details of the rogue CC in my game.

As for the link, I'll give read about it and will tell you what happens next.
