Leaves In Fall And Relativity

Post by Sarah_Sims » October 8th, 2015, 7:39 pm

Someone has approached me through tumblr stating that when they have Relativity installed, the leaves seem to fall off the trees faster. They claim that with Relativity set to a speed of 19 (game time running at 50%) and each season set to either 6 or 7 days, the trees are losing their leaves twice as fast and are completely bare by the end of the second day of Fall.

I'm going to test this soon as my game is currently five days away from Fall but in the meantime, has anyone else noticed this happening in their games? I can't say I have but then again, I don't pay much attention to the trees at any time of year. :-)

This is probably no help, but it happens to be fall in my ongoing game. It's 7th day of a 10 day season and though leaves have been falling since the 2nd day, the trees are only just starting to look bare. But I play with Relativity at 23.

It's been a pretty warm fall for this world, though. I wonder if the temperature pattern might be more of a factor (probably not, just seemed like it was worth mentioning).

I've been using 19 for a long time and leaves still fall right to the last day. Just ask the poor butlers who are out sweeping them up all day.

I use Relativity of 18 and see that with fruit trees on the 3rd day (plants also go dormant by the 3rd day of fall). That's with a 10 day season. Other trees, however, I think drop leaves throughout the season. I'll have to pay more attention next fall, which will be a while.

It's not something that bothers me particularly so I've not bothered to bring it up but I remember when I put relativity in i noticed the trees were bare by the second or third day of autumn. Honestly don't know if it's still an issue or why it would apply to some games but not others (unless it's a relativity version issue) so i don't know if this is any help. definitely remember noticing a difference but whether it still applies - ? my game has just started spring but I'll keep an eye out when it gets to autumn.

Thanks for your responses everyone! :-)

@TreyNutz: That's a good point about the Fruit Trees. I never realised they shed their leaves quicker than normal trees. Thanks. :-)

@Cocolori: Would you happen to remember what version of Relativity you were using when you noticed this before? Maybe it was just a glitch with a previous version. I'll have to find out which version was being used by this person. Thanks. :-)

Temperature might have something to do with it I had an unusually warm fall (stayed in the 60 range) leaves didn't start to fall until the last 2 days and and my winter which I'm currently in started unusually warm and still had leaves falling until the 2nd day.

I had this issue in my Moonlight Falls save the last time I played there, and I'm fairly certain it happened in my Bridgeport save too more recently, although I use that world primarily for storytelling rather than gameplay so I can't be 100% sure. Admittedly I have most of the NRaas mods, but I remember reading a thread about it here a long time ago that said it was related to Relativity. It seems to have been deleted, however, as I can't locate it now. I'd really love to find a workaround or fix for this problem as it's my biggest pet peeve currently (autumn is my favorite time of year :D), but I'll do some experimenting today and report back. That temperature idea is an interesting possibility too as I use Tempest to keep both of those worlds on the colder side of things. Very happy to see a thread about this topic, thank you Sarah_Sims! :)

No problem buckley! Nice to see you over here! I hope we can get this problem sorted out for you. :-)

So, can I confirm your game is patched to 1.67 and you're using the latest stable version of Relativity (V23)? There is a testing version available (V24) but that is broken. Also, is it just the normal trees or the fruit trees as well, that you're seeing this problem with? Thanks! :-)
